Built in 1936, this art museum is the first national art museum in Chinese history, witnessing the beginning of China's art museum industry and representing the start of modern Chinese art exhibitions. It was designed by the famous architect Xi Fuquan, who used a simple and bright style to express nationality; the interior layout was designed according to the requirements of modern art exhibitions, making it smooth and bright. In 2019, the "Former Site of the National Art Exhibition Hall" was successfully selected as the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The first exhibition after reopening, "Seeing Words as 'Me' - Zhang Jian's Hometown Feelings in Calligraphy," showcases more than 130 pieces of Zhang Jian's calligraphy works and related documents. Located in the cultural building complex on Changjiang Road in Nanjing, the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum was originally the National Art Gallery, which was completed in August 1936. It is the first national-level art museum in modern China and marks the beginning of the development of China's art museum industry. In 1956, the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum, as one of the earliest provincial-level art museums established in New China, opened to the public, and was officially named in 1960.

The recent exhibition at the Jiangsu Provincial Museum, Chen Qi's 'To My Return' exhibition, can be described as a visual feast!! 'To My Return' is named after the phrase 'Heart's sorrow, to my return' from the 'Book of Songs·Cao Feng·Mayfly', which not only laments the fleeting nature of time but also reflects Chen Qi's return to his origins after 32 years, rebuilding the geographical connection with his homeland in the south of the Yangtze River and the spiritual communication with his own brushwork and ink technique. Moreover, by using the image of the mayfly, it echoes the cosmic view of his representative work 'Time Stave' with its clothes fish and wormholes, achieving a spiritual reconstruction of 'sending the mayfly to the universe, a mere grain in the vast ocean.' The key is that during the hot summer, visiting exhibitions inside the museum is the top choice for staying cool! 🏰The old gallery of today's Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum was originally built in 1936 as the National Art Gallery, the first national-level art museum in modern Chinese history. Now, it is divided into the old and new galleries. 📺At the Jiangsu Provincial Art Exhibition Hall 'Oriental Charm,' classic Chinese art pieces are showcased. 'Mommy, mommy'... 'I'm not your mommy, your mommy has four legs'... Do you remember this short story from textbooks, or the animated film on TV—'Little Tadpoles Looking for Their Mother'? Have you watched 'Havoc in Heaven,' 'The Calabash Brothers,' 'Fantastic Tales of Tianshan'...? One section even celebrates the valiant figures of Jiangsu athletes and the calligraphy and paintings of Jiangsu's public fitness! The museum has also set up a café, where you can enjoy a drink, hold a book, and there's even a stepped book city at the staircase entrance, all with a literary and fresh atmosphere!
