Pottery Village on River Island 🎐
If looking to escape the city and explore Thailand's local charms, somewhere not too far from Bangkok. Koh Kret, is perfect for a day trip. This artificial/man-made river island was created in 1722 and is one the oldest settlement of the Mon people. Famed for terracotta pottery. Unique and rich in culture.
Whether traveling solo, friends or family with children/elderly - there' is something fun for everyone to enjoy here. Pottery classes for children and adult. Khon museum. My favorite! Plenty of relaxing riverside cafe and restaurants. Enjoy craft beer at Chitbeer. Baan Dampranot for gastronomic food experience. Line of food stalls - everything looks so tempting and delicious. Shop local handicrafts, traditional herbal medicine, home grown organic vegetables and fruits - so much to explore.
You can rent a bicycle to go around the island, or just walk. Boat tours are also available, run by community themselves. A great model supporting local tourism. Plenty of homestay available to stay overnight and experience the local lifestyle, watch the beautiful sunrise.
Gorgeous sunset from here 🌅
