[Shiga Prefecture] It's like the world of Ghibli! Japanese and Western sweets theme park "La Collina Omihachiman"
La Collina Omihachiman is a sweets theme park that was opened in 2015 by the long-established Japanese sweets store Taneya at the foot of Mt. Yawata in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture. It sells Taneya's Japanese sweets and Club Harie products such as Baumkuchen, and operates a workshop.
The site was originally a public facility or dormitory run by the third sector, and the decision was made to open here with an eye on the abundance of nature, coexistence with nature, and revitalization of the local area.
Designed by a famous architect, it creates a world reminiscent of Ghibli.
The specialty is freshly baked Baumkuchen at a reasonable price. The cafe and restaurant are also popular, and there are long queues at lunchtime.
By the way, you can visit the Baumkuchen workshop for free and watch the production process through the window. The sweet aroma is irresistible!
This theme park, which has a theme of coexistence with nature, hosts various workshops and also grows rice within the park, which is harvested in the fall.
It seems to be still expanding, so I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
