[Iwate Prefecture] Refresh at the scenic Jodogahama Beach!
Jodogahama is located in the center of Sanriku Fukko National Park and Sanriku Geopark. The waves are calm because it is isolated from the open sea. I went down to the beach and took a walk, and it was a relaxing time that was very refreshing.

Miyako... A small seaside town warmer than you might expect.
If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful Japanese town by the sea with its own unique charm, without the crowds... Miyako is one of those places.
This trip took us away from the hustle and bustle of big cities to the salty air of the Pacific Ocean in Miyako, a small coastal town in Iwate Prefecture. It's a place filled with warm-hearted locals and surprisingly delicious food.
🍜 First thing you must try is the "local ramen." There's a famous ramen shop here that's been open for decades. The clear, aromatic broth is perfectly balanced, the noodles are chewy and tender, and the surprise twist? It's served with fresh seafood! This is a perfect blend of Japanese ramen and ocean flavors.
🌊 Next, we strolled along the seaside. The sky was clear, the breeze was refreshingly strong, and there was even a spot to feed seagulls flying over the water. It felt like being in a nature documentary.
🍦 Before heading back, we stopped for "soft serve ice cream" made from local Hokkaido milk from the Tohoku region. Sweet and creamy without being overly rich, enjoying it with a view of the sea was a 10/10 experience.
💬 Miyako may not be a famous tourist destination, but it’s a town that makes you realize "happiness doesn’t always need to be rushed." Slow walks, cool breezes, and delicious food are all you need.

[Iwate] Sunrise at Jodogahama Beach
Jodogahama Beach in Iwate Prefecture has a very clear ocean.
I went there early in the morning and was able to see the sunrise. The seawater reflected the morning sun, and the gradation of the blue of the sea and the red of the sun, as well as the shadows of the rocks, were beautifully captured.
It seems to be a spot only known to those in the know, and on that day there were two people with professional cameras waiting for the sunrise.
There are no shops around, so if you want to bring food with you, it's better to buy it at a convenience store or chain store near the station.

A scenic spot where you can enjoy the superb scenery that is detached from the world
#springwander
"Jodogahama" is an inlet of Iwahama facing the Sanriku coast, and is a representative scenic spot in Japan. It is said that around 1680, the name came from the monk Reikyo, who saw the white rocky beach, the beautiful and clear sea surface, and the complex terrain that was detached from the world, and admired it as "it's like the Pure Land of Paradise".
The complex-shaped coast created by the movement of the sea and the earth allows you to feel the greatness of the power of nature with overwhelming power. The strange rocks formed about 52 million years ago have created many superb scenic spots, each of which has been named. Among them, the "Blue Cave" is particularly popular. You can experience the mysterious natural energy in a blue space created by sunlight and seawater with high transparency.
My first visit to Jodogahama Beach
#DomesticTravelRecord
I went sightseeing at Jodogahama Beach from the morning!
It was my first time going to Jodogahama Beach, so I was very excited.
Because it is a quasi-national park, it is well maintained and very beautiful!
There is a rest house nearby where you can enjoy their famous bottled rice bowl! I had fried oysters lol
The fried oysters were also very big and delicious!
Then, in the afternoon, I moved to Morioka and ate their famous Jajamen. They have a way of finishing off a meal called Chitan?, which was really delicious!
It's a great place, so I want to go again!
Typhoon Tails
🌀 MIYAKO 宮古 🌀
💙 ありがとうございました 🧡
Typhoon #5 swept in the day I was to leave for Karumai 軽米. I really, really wanted to visit the hometown of 古舘先生 and the many places where ハイキュー!! Haikyuu!! locations are based on.
It was the obon holidays so everything was booked out, but I searched and searched and searched ... And finally found an available ryokan on Rakuten. But that journey was really not meant to be. I fought for it but nature took over, like "I already told you so ... not this trip. Save Karumai for next time." Yes sir, got the message loud and clear.
Spent the rainy days indoors sketching out Kageyama with my favorite things - onigiri, 7-11 curry bun, my blessed gacha ... Until Kinari-chan and Bruno checked in. They're so much fun. We were prepared to feast on our 7-11 美食 when Akira-san checked in the following day, and together with Shu-chan, showed us a most amazing evening of incredible Miyako hospitality, seafood and entertainment 💕
What seemed like a depressing foil of a much anticipated trip to Karumai had turned out to be a most delightful experience on my first trip back to Japan post-covid, all thanks to these amazing folks.
ありがとうございました!!! またね ♥️

Away from the hustle and bustle, a pure land
Located on the shore of Pure Land in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, northeastern
I saw posters posted at the train station.
Seeing it seems quite beautiful, I went there in person.
It's really well-deserved, the shore of the Pure Land! #Pure Land
First of all there are really not many people, and it is not too difficult to get to
Take the bus from Miyako Station for about 45 minutes and get off at the Pure Land Bin Visitor Center. The scenery of the walk along the road to the cover photo was already good.
On the way, you will pass the Marine House on the shore of the Pure Land, where you can pay for a boat ride to see the Blue Cave. About 1500 yen per person, depending on the number of people 4-6 people a boat.
After the boat ride, continue walking to the shore of the Pure Land rest house.
That is the location of the cover photo.
There are restaurants, washrooms, souvenir shops and the like.
After completion just next to the bus stop, take the bus back to Miyako city.

Miyako Jodogahama Beach
#sightseeing #sanrikucoast #miyako #jodogahamasightseeingboat
I went to Jodogahama in mid-March.
It was windy that day, and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get on the Jodogahama sightseeing boat, but I went anyway.
The man at the boat ticket booth said that we might not be able to enter the Blue Cave today, but if that was okay, he sent the boat out. We were a family of four, with one guide and one boatman. Thanks to the bonus kappa ebisen, a lot of sea cats gathered around the boat, which made the cruise fun in itself, but we also went to the entrance of the Blue Cave, so we were able to see a little bit of the beautiful ocean.
The Sanriku Coast has many sightseeing spots, and it's great for driving, including Sannoiwa Rock.

Jodogahama Beach 🏖️
#beachvacation
Jodogahama Beach, located in Miyako, Japan, is a mesmerizing coastal gem that left me utterly enchanted. The moment I set foot on its shores, I was greeted by a panorama of crystal-clear azure waters, framed by rugged, towering cliffs. The contrast of the deep blue sea against the white pebble beach is a sight to behold.
What struck me most about Jodogahama was its serenity. The gentle sound of waves lapping the shore, combined with the distant cries of seagulls, created an atmosphere of tranquility that was both calming and invigorating.
Exploring the caves and sea stacks along the coast added an element of adventure to my visit. The walking trails provide stunning vantage points for photos, making it a photographer's paradise.
Jodogahama Beach is a hidden jewel that captivates the soul with its natural beauty and peaceful ambiance, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking solace by the sea. #ukcreator #miyako #japan

[Iwate Prefecture] Take a commemorative photo with a retro train at Miyako Station on the Sanriku Railway!
Nicknamed "Rias Port," Miyako Station is the nearest station to the nationally famous Jodogahama Beach.
In 2019, the entire Rias Line opened, making it the largest third-sector railway in Japan.
This time, I was short on time and could only go to Miyako Station, but I would like to ride the whole line someday!
