Pasak Jolasid Dam, the longest water retention dam in Thailand
The Pasak Jolasid Dam is the longest earthen dam in Thailand. It was built under the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) to prevent flooding in the Pasak River Basin and the Chao Phraya River Basin. Construction began on December 2, 1994 by the Royal Irrigation Department and was completed on September 30, 1999. The construction period was more than 5 years. In addition to being an important dam in Thailand, it is also an important tourist attraction in Lopburi Province. In the evening, it is suitable for jogging on the dam, which is about 5 kilometers long. Tourists can take a tram to see the dam, which takes about 1 hour to go back and forth. Or you can rent a bicycle to ride for 80-100 baht with no time limit. However, if there are a lot of people, they may limit the rental time. You can bring your bicycle to ride on the dam. However, if there are a lot of tourists and the tram runs frequently, the officers will not allow you to ride on the dam because they are concerned about danger. The wind is very cold on the dam. But the sun is also very hot, so you should come in the evening after 4:00 p.m. There is a dividing point between the two provinces, Lopburi-Saraburi, at the dam.
