Pretty Town Parikia 🪴 * Getting There - There is no direct flight from UK to Paros island. The easiest way to travel by ferry from nearby islands Mykonos or Santorini ⛴️ * Attractions - The Frankish Castle, * Hotels - Agnanti Paros Hotel in Parikia * Food & Restaurants - Local restaurants by the seafront serving fresh food & fish. * Shopping - Explore narrow streets of Parikia and small individual boutique shops. Parikia is situated on a small hill overlooking the port of Paros, the island’s port with lovely old town famous for its historic ruins, churches and fairytale-like whitewashed windmills. 🏡 Absolutely enjoyed strolling the labyrinth like narrow, cobbled and painted cute alleyways. Tourist area as well as locals still live here, they open their business in the morning and close their shops for a few hours mid day. Parikia is famous for its whitewashed houses are draped in beautiful bougainvillea, and cats wondering about-we had a few followers there too! 🐈 :) There is a coffee shop & bar at the top and the view is wonderful! We loved the local beer 🍺 The Frankish Castle is not open but what remains is interesting. Avoid the hustle and bustle of the peak tourist season and immerse yourself in local life to realize that the Aegean Sea is more than just blue and white. 🧳Preparation before the trip: 1. Weather and clothing The average temperature in March is 15-20°C, with a large temperature difference between morning and evening, so you will need a windproof jacket and light rain gear (30% chance of showers). Suitable non-slip shoes for walking (stone paths are slippery when wet), sunscreen and sunglasses (moderate UV intensity). 🚉Transportation strategy: On the island: Car rental is the preferred option (40-60 Euros per day). Public buses cover major attractions (frequency is reduced, check the timetable in advance). Cycling along the coastal highway is recommended (be careful as the wind is strong). Outside the island: 4-5 hours by ferry from Athens (Blue Star Ferries 2 flights per day), or 1 hour direct flight (Olympic Air). 🌟Highlights: 1. Naoussa 👍Most Recommended: In the morning, stroll through the Venice Harbor and visit the Fisheries Museum; in the evening, go to a seafood restaurant (recommended "Soso") to taste octopus dishes and take photos of the lights of fishing boats in the twilight. ✅Must experience: You can buy handmade embroidery and honey at the Local Market every Saturday morning. 2. Parikia 👍Most Recommended: Go to the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary to attend the Sunday service (there will be a special ceremony on March 23), and go to the Archaeological Museum to admire the ancient Greek statue "Gorgon". 🏨Hotel environment: 1. Value for money choice: Argonauta Hotel in Parikia (old town center, classical courtyard, low-season price in March: 70 euros/night). 2. Designer B&B: "Paliomylos Cave Suite" in Naoussa (converted cave, private sea view terrace). 3. Escape from the world: "Traditional Houses" in Lefkes (centennial stone houses, walking maps and picnic baskets are provided).

Kolimbifhres Beach - secluded and peaceful. But because we visiting during off season, there weren’t much to do and there aren’t any cafes available on the beach itself. But the view worth it. 2. Leftkes Village - 10.5km - 16 mins from Parikia. Known for their beautiful houses with bougainvillea flowers hanging on their doors. 2. Marpissa - 15.34km - 24 mins from Parikia - Known for Pink House of Marpissa. 3. Dinner at Tsachpinis Steakhouse in Naoussa (totally recommend this for foreigners to try. Locals love it so much) 🌟 20th JANUARY 1. Visit Monastery of St. John’s of Deti - Views were spectacular. 2. Drive to Alyki and got a bunch of seafood dishes. I recommend Nikoleta Restaurant. They have wide range of dishes available. 3. Back in Parikia in Evening and visit Our Lady of A Hurdred Doors next- Shopping & Sight seeing

#europetrip #staycation #vianasjourney I had the chance visiting Paros during off season (January). Even though plenty of water activities were not available during this time of the year but I was able to enjoy the beauty of the place without many disturbance from the crowd. Here what and where I went while I was there. 1. Parikia Houses - walking through the houses and find bougainvilla that bloom prettily. 2. 100 Doors Church - located in the center of the town itself. There was no entrance fee, church is quite small but still worth for a visit. 3. Walking along the shore. There were some stairs going doen closer to the beach, it was peaceful and if I had my proper gear that time, definitely going in for a swim. 4. Sitting at cafes enjoying the breeze from the sea.
