[2025 Shoalwater Attraction] Travel Guide for Penguin Island (Updated May)

Penguin Island is a small island located just off the coast of Western Australia, near the city of Rockingham. The island is home to a colony of little penguins, the smallest species of penguin in the world. We took a ferry from Rockingham to the island and explored the island's wildlife and natural beauty. With a self-guided tour of the island, we managed to see the penguins in their natural habitat. The island also has a Discovery Centre, where we learnt more about the penguins and the other wildlife that call the island home. Penguin Island is a great destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts and is perfect for a day trip from Perth.

Visiting the Southern Hemisphere, you must see the little penguins. The best place to watch penguins is Phillip Island. Phillip Island is also known as "Penguin Island" and is home to many wild animals such as little penguins, pelicans, koalas, kangaroos, etc. It is recommended to drive yourself or join a tour group. Phillip Island Maru Koala & Animal Park An open-air zoo The most special thing inside is a few white kangaroos You can buy feed and interact with the kangaroos when you enter the park Some kangaroos eat in a hurry and will use their hands to grab, so be careful!! The zoo is small but still has a complete variety of species Kangaroos koalas peacocks ... The Nobbies Here there is a long Boardwalk wooden path Walking along the wooden path, the scenery along the way is particularly healing There are rock beaches, sea waves, caves, etc. There is also a chance to see whales (unfortunately, we didn't see them) Chocolate f a c t o r y Chocolate Factory The ticket includes 10 credits which can be used to play games in the game area ten times. The balls won can be exchanged for chocolate balls at the exit. Inside there are various chocolate products, chocolate sculptures, chocolate waterfalls, and you can also observe the chocolate-making process up close. Penguin Parade Penguin House The little penguin conservation area at dusk The little penguins will return to their nests in groups from the sea. Visitors need to sit in the stands to watch the penguins return to their nests. The viewing platform is quite far from the coast and may not be very clear. It is recommended to wait for the penguins to come ashore and then watch the little penguins along the boardwalk. The little penguins waddle and are super cute. !! Tips: 1. Little penguins are very sensitive. Photography and video recording are not allowed during the viewing. The temperature difference between day and night is large. Remember to bring warm clothes when watching at night.

#familytrips2024 Take a ferry ride out into the sea and shortly, you will reach the famous attraction called Penguin Island in Perth Australia. The ferry ride is about 5 minutes, which is pretty fast. Here, you get to see the animals in their natural habitat and environment. Some of the animals you can spot would be the seals, the cute little penguins, pelicans and some dolphins swimming beside your ferry. Nature at it’s best. Get close to marine wildlife with a trip to Penguin Island. Ferry transfer to Penguin Island before boarding the Dolphin Penguin Sea Lion Cruise. On this cruise with a guide, we were able to see many dolphins in Shoalwater bay but we might be lucky as these are dolphins swimming in the wild. Cruise also went near Seal Island so that we can spot the sea lions. There is a feeding show at Penguin Island and you can explore the breathtaking scenery at the island before you catch the last ferry back to mainland. You can spot many silver gulls, take a leisurely walk at the beach, explore the trails and go to the highest point of the Penguin Island for the scenery.
