Best Things to DoNo.1 of Best Things to Do in Lorne
Split Point Lighthouse is located in the town of Aireys Inlet along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, about 120 kilometers from Melbourne. Built in 1891, this white cylindrical lighthouse is 34 meters high and is one of the oldest lighthouses in Victoria. It is also called the Little Red Riding Hood Lighthouse because of the red and white striped top decoration. It is cute and exquisite, and is affectionately called the "White Queen" by the locals. The lighthouse still provides navigation services for ships in the Bass Strait. Its classic shape has appeared in the Australian TV series "Igloo". The Eagle Rock Observation Deck where the lighthouse is located is an ideal location for viewing the coastline, overlooking the Eagle Rock sea stacks and the whirlpools formed by the tide. The surrounding area retains the original bush trail, and it takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach below the lighthouse. The internal guided tour needs to be booked in advance. You need to climb a hundred spiral steps to reach the top. The top platform of the tower can have a 360-degree view of the Shipwreck Coast and the Otway Mountains. It is recommended to visit in the early morning or before sunset, when the light is soft and easy to take pictures.
