Krakow Travel: Poland’s Jewel, Breathing History and Culture 💎
Last July, I visited Kraków, a beautiful city filled with Polish culture and history!
Kraków, one of the oldest cities in Poland, was particularly impressive for its old-fashioned atmosphere and star-studded cathedral!!
🏙️ Introduction to Kraków
Kraków is a city located in southern Poland, and as it was the former capital of Poland, it is a city with a rich history and cultural heritage. Kraków's old town, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has many buildings that remain from the Middle Ages.
🏰 Wawel Castle
The highlight of the Kraków trip is Wawel Castle! This castle was the political center of the Kingdom of Poland and was where the kings of the past resided. Inside the castle, there are tombs of Polish kings, so you can feel the royal history of Kraków. There is also a cave under the castle walls that is said to have been inhabited by a dragon.
🚪St. Florian's Gate
St. Florian's Gate is a symbolic gate leading into the Old Town of Krakow. During the Middle Ages, this gate was the only entrance to Krakow, and part of the city walls from that time still remain. This gate, where you can feel the traces of the defense facilities that protected Krakow, has been well preserved as a historical heritage of medieval Poland.
⛪ St. Mary's Basilica
Located in the heart of Krakow's Old Town, St. Mary's Basilica is famous for its gorgeous Gothic architecture. When you enter the cathedral, the beautiful Gothic altar and the blue star-shaped decorations on the ceiling are really amazing!!
