When I went to Tsuchiura Castle🏯, I went to Kameya Shokudo, famous for its delicious katsudon in Tsuchiura!!! It's a restaurant right in front of Tsuchiura Castle, so it's a good place to go after you're tired from walking!!! It has the atmosphere of a long-loved restaurant in the town, I went there around 1pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant was always full👀 〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜 ▼Menu I ordered〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜 🥢Katsudon (50g) 1,200 yen *Includes miso soup, salad, and pickles. There were various menus, such as a children's lunch and an adult lunch, so I was undecided, but I ordered Kameya Shokudo's specialty katsudon. The price varies depending on the amount of meat! I had read reviews saying it was cheap and filling, but due to the recent price hike, most of the menu items were over 1,000 yen...🥹 (Prices, please come down...) But it was delicious!!! The katsudon stewed in a sweet and salty sauce went really well with rice🤤 The meat was only 50g, so it was a little thin, so I ordered the premium katsudon (80g) for 1,500 yen or the extra premium katsudon (100g) for 1,700 yen. A dessert unique to Ibaraki, the number one producer of melons in Japan🍈🍨 "Whole Melon Cream Soda" 1,200 yen It's available 24 hours a day at the cafe next to the front desk, so it's recommended to eat it after sweating, such as after cycling or taking a bath🙆♀️ The seeds of the melon are hollowed out and the soda is in there, so you can eat it while scraping off the melon flesh🥄 The melon is actually frozen🤣 It has some sweet parts, but if you scrape off too much of the skin, it tastes a bit like melon? There are some pieces, so be careful ⚠️ Also, it was really cold to eat a whole frozen melon by myself 🥶 so I recommend eating it with at least two people!!! I stayed at Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Tsuchiura, a cyclist-friendly hotel that just opened in 2020! Directly connected to Tsuchiura Station, it has excellent access! As expected from Hoshino Resorts, the interior is stylish and fashionable. It seems to be a hotel for young people, and the services are minimal. (Pajamas are available for rental at a fee, and amenities are available at the front desk or by bringing your own. There is no restaurant in the hotel, so breakfast is provided at a cafe in the shopping mall directly connected to the hotel.) One particularly unique feature is that some rooms allow you to bring your bicycle into your room. The room I stayed in was different, but in some rooms you can sleep with your bike lol There is also a cycling course called "Kasumigaura Rin Rin Road" nearby, making it a dream environment for cyclists. ✨Don't worry, even if you don't have your own bike, you can rent a mini velo at the hotel for a fee. Set along the Sakura River, the festival strings up lanterns between thousands of cherry trees, creating a pink-lit tunnel that comes alive after sunset. I went for the full experience — daytime hanami under the blossoms, sunset riverside strolls, and nighttime food stalls with sizzling yakitori and sweet sakura mochi. The river reflects the blossoms and lanterns, creating a glowing, dreamlike atmosphere. Live music, boat rides, and families laying out their blue tarps for picnics — it’s lively without being overwhelming. If you want a mix of classic festival energy and sakura romance, Tsuchiura is a fantastic pick.

While sightseeing in Tsuchiura, I found a cute retro coffee shop, and went to Cafe Kura!!! It's a brick cafe and it's cute from the outside, but it looks like a brick storehouse🧱 built in 1892! It seems that they are famous for their curry, but I went there as soon as it opened, so I wasn't hungry yet! I ordered the chiffon cake and coffee float☕️, which were recommended on the menu. I went to Tsuchiura Castle Ruins🏯, which is a 15-minute walk from Tsuchiura Station!!! The castle itself is no longer there, but it has been turned into a park with the East and West Towers, a section, and a moat🛝 There are also gates remaining from the Edo period, so you can feel the atmosphere of a castle!!! The Honmaru Yaguramon gate at the entrance to the castle has been built since the Edo period, and it is said to be very rare that a gate from that time remains along with the hourly drums that tell the time👀 It is said that Tsuchiura Castle is the only one in the Kanto region🏯 The Honmaru and East Tower were burned down in a fire in the Meiji era, but the Honmaru Yaguramon gate escaped the disaster and is still standing today. A volunteer guide told me these stories!!! This is a long-established sandwich shop. It has become a new, stylish store shortly after exiting the Tsuchiura Kita interchange. Tsujiya's specialty is the vermicelli sandwich. All of their products are delicious, but this one is a must-try. The bread is fluffy and the size is just right. The egg sandwich is made by hand-peeling boiled eggs and mixing them with seasonings. There are also several types of fruit sandwiches filled with plenty of seasonal fruits. We cycled around Lake Kasumigaura♡ It felt great! Tsuchiura is known as a cycling town♡ There are several bicycle rental places at the station, and you can even bring your bike through the shops on the premises and in the station building! (^ ^) The area around the station is also well-maintained as a cycling road, so it's really easy to ride!! We rented electric bicycles at Hoshino Resort! 2500 yen for 3 hours♪ #Travelingwithme

I stayed at BEB Tsuchiura♡ In other posts, I mainly posted about the facilities and services, but this time I'm going to talk about the experience and the room❤️ About the experience: I was able to experience pedaling my own bike and completing it with a smoothie (800 yen)! It was fun(^ ^) There are currently four flavors, and I chose strawberry🍓 smoothie!
