Though the front and overall architecture is completely lacklustre, the collection of ancient artifacts was eye opening. This single museum alone should be tell you 80% of Chinese history. The visual presentation of the artifacts in many exhibition halls are also appealing. But the downside is that it’s incredibly popular, and tickets can be hard to get—although the ticket is free. Coz the building is old and small, it can only accommodate 12000 persons /day, which is not a big number to most mega museums in the world. Even if you managed to get a slot, the visiting experience could be affected by crowdedness—you literally have to squeeze through people at times. If you can’t get a ticket, the nearby Xi’an Museum is a great alternative with much easier access.

In April this year, I traveled to Xi'an to see the must-visit Terracotta Warriors ✨, one of the Eight Wonders of the World. I stayed at a boutique design hotel located between the Bell Tower and the Great Tang All Day Mall. The price was very affordable, the space was spacious and comfortable, and the location was extremely convenient. Besides the must-try local delicacies like Roujiamo (Chinese burger) and Liangpi (cold noodles), my favorite part of this trip was Shaanxi cuisine, especially the Hulutou Chicken (highly recommended!). It's not your ordinary fried chicken. Even though I was traveling solo, I couldn't resist enjoying the deliciousness of a whole chicken! I would definitely return to Xi'an just for the Hulutou Chicken! Another highlight in Xi'an is the Tree of Life, a work by renowned British architect Thomas Heatherwick. It's a stunning and unique shopping mall, unlike the ones we usually see. The environment is fantastic.

I went to Xi'an this Labor Day 😄 Xi'an is a city with so much food that it was featured on Baek Jong-won's Street Food! While traveling around Xi'an, I walked 20,000 steps and I'll recommend the restaurants I found myself and the restaurants recommended by locals (I think all Chinese people know ㅎㅎ ;;). There are more places I've tried myself, but I've only selected the ones that were really, really delicious 🤭 📍Mei San Baozi (麻什字店) No. 121 Huifang Xiyang City Street, Leanhu District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province It's not Xi'an food, but it's a Baozi restaurant I found while walking around the Hui ethnic group street! I also ordered and ate the meat rolls in the second photo, and they were all hot, so they were really delicious. ㅎㅎ On the way out, I also ate the persimmon rolls, and they kindly warmed them up for me, so I enjoyed them. They weren't too sweet and were just right, which was nice. 📍Zhengzong 裤带面(钟楼店) No. 7, Zhonglu Xiaoguo, Bilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province On my first day in Xi'an, I was chosen by a Chinese couple and chatted for an hour before I found this restaurant!!! Xi'an is famous for its biangbiang noodles, and this place was especially recommended by the locals. I've tried other places, but this one was the most delicious and the price was really cheap!! I ordered a large one and shared it between two people. Most people tend to share it, so I ordered it that way, and it was just right for two people. 😚 📍Zhaoji Sosai Green Bean Buns (Zhonglu Xiaogu Old Store) No. 41, Zhukang City, Bilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province (480m walk from Exit C of Guangjie Street) This is also a local pick! It's near the famous Bbangbbangmyeon restaurant. The line is a bit long, but it moves quickly so I didn't have to wait long. It wasn't too sweet so it was delicious. Chinese people buy a few boxes that are refrigerated. I think it's best to eat it while it's hot, so I bought 1-2 of each flavor. My top pick is 红枣 (date flavor)! 山楂 (mountain berry flavor) was also delicious! Most of them are made fresh, so you can eat them while they're hot, which seems to be the best. I'm traveling to Xi'an alone! It's so great to lie in the hotel, order takeout, and binge-watch TV shows. I'm having a long-awaited staycation in Xi'an by myself. When I got off the plane, I found that it was raining in Xi'an. The good news is that it's especially cool and comfortable compared to Nanjing. The bad news is that I didn't check the weather forecast before going out, and I didn't bring enough clothes. I quickly went to the hotel. This time, my first stop was the voco Qindu Legend Hotel. After arriving at the hotel, I didn't go anywhere. I turned on my phone and ordered takeout. Because I came here on a whim, I didn't do any research. At this moment, I'm researching what's delicious in Xi'an on my phone, and what takeout I can order near the hotel. In the end, I ordered hot and sour dumplings & Fan Erlang donkey hoof noodles, as well as Chahuanong's new product, the Tricolor Cup. The hoof noodles were especially delicious!! Chewy and flavorful. Chahuanong's new product is simply excellent, with the appearance of a work of art. It's delicious and cheap, and I also learned something new. It's the first time I've learned that Chahuanong is from Xi'an! When I turned on the TV in the hotel, I found that the TV series "A Wonderful Life" starring Sun Li and Dong Zijian, which I had booked to watch before, had started. I was so happy, I cast the screen and binge-watched the show! It feels pretty good! I got up the next day and had a buffet breakfast at the hotel. There weren't a lot of varieties, but the quality was okay, and the taste was also good. I got up in the morning and took a city walk around the Bell and Drum Tower, chill~ For i people with insufficient qi and blood, traveling is just about sleeping in another city, eating takeout in another city, and binge-watching TV shows in another city.
