#underratedspots We came across a lovely Greek Orthodox Church in the Prahran/South Yarra area, and although it was closed, the priest was still there and kind enough to let us in for a quick look!⛪ This is a cosy church, not very big, but beautiful nonetheless. There are beautiful stained glass windows of crosses with chandeliers that shine bright✨ The iconostasis, like in some Orthodox churches has Western art rather than Byzantine, and although we prefer Byzantine, the art is still very beautiful and has this ancient feel to it. There is Byzantine iconography in other parts of the church, including two at the altar of Sts Joachim and Anna, Mother Mary's parents, hence Jesus' grandparents💒 We tried to rush as to not keep the priest waiting to go home, but he chatted to us while we took the photos. Mummy told him where she's from and her love and respect for the Greeks, being strong allies and all. I swam laps, then chilled on the grass with a mango smoothie. It had that old-school summer energy, like something from an Aussie film. If talking about living belongs to leisure D pursuit of lifestyle D middle class desire to move to live. There are also many restaurants and shops there, mostly individually run rather than chains, so many people like to go shopping and eat there. Many up-and-coming local designers will also choose to open workshops or shops there, especially Chapel Street because shops there are mostly ground floor shops in two-storey old houses, with cheaper rents. So the whole area has a heavy sense of design, even the landmark Prahran Market building is beautiful.
