🌞Our 10-day adventure exploring the Yucatan Peninsula was an absolute dream come true! 🚗Renting a car allowed us the freedom to uncover the hidden gems of this incredible region. 1️⃣🏖️ Cancun:Our first stop was the vibrant city of Cancun, known for its stunning beaches. We soaked up the sun and enjoyed the bustling nightlife before embarking on our Yucatan adventure. 2️⃣🏖️Playa del Carmen: Next up was Playa del Carmen, where the lively Fifth Avenue and beautiful beaches kept us entertained. We couldn't resist snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of this coastal gem. 3️⃣🏰Tulum: Tulum's ancient ruins perched atop the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea were simply awe-inspiring. We spent hours exploring and taking in the breathtaking views. 4️⃣⛲Valladolid: charmed us with its colonial architecture and rich history. The cenotes were a refreshing highlight, and we learned about the culture of this charming town. 5️⃣📍Chichén Itzá:Our visit to the iconic Chichén Itzá was a history lover's dream. The intricate Mayan architecture and the El Castillo pyramid were truly remarkable. 6️⃣🟡Izamal: The "Yellow City" greeted us with its colorful buildings and charming streets. We explored the pyramid and felt the rich Mayan heritage all around. 7️⃣🔖Merida:Merida's vibrant culture and delicious cuisine won us over. We tried traditional Yucatecan dishes. 8️⃣Uman:Uman allowed us to experience the tranquility of small-town Mexico. It was a welcome break from the bustling cities and a chance to connect with the locals. 9️⃣🦩Celestun🦩: Celestun's serene beaches were the perfect backdrop for spotting flamingos and crocodiles. Our boat tour through the Celestun Biosphere Reserve was a wildlife lover's paradise. 🔟🐸Progreso: This coastal town offered relaxation and seaside dining. We enjoyed fresh seafood and the laid-back atmosphere. 1️⃣1️⃣Tizimin: Tizimin provided insight into rural Yucatan life. We explored local markets and admired the traditional way of living. 1️⃣2️⃣Rio Lagartos: was a true natural wonder. Our boat tour allowed us to see the vibrant pink hues of the salt flats and encounter crocodiles and various bird species. Our 10-day Yucatan Peninsula adventure was a perfect blend of history, nature, culture, and relaxation. Introducing a day trip from Merida to Progreso, Mexico! Getting to Progreso is easy via AutoProgreso bus. The bus departs from the Autoprogreso bus terminal (Calle 62×65, Centro) in central Merida. The journey takes about 40 minutes, costing around 30-40 pesos. Buses depart every 15-20 minutes from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with return trips equally frequent. It's the perfect day trip. After arriving, stroll along the impressive Malecón, featuring its long pier, and enjoy fresh ceviche and tacos at waterfront cafes and seafood restaurants. Popular spots include Eladio's Bar and Crabster. For a quieter experience, Playa Progreso Norte at the northern end of the Malecón is a hidden gem. In the afternoon, take a kayak tour to see the mangroves and flamingos. Weekends are bustling with locals, so weekday mornings are quieter. The sunsets are beautiful in the evening, so it's a great time to relax at a bar along the waterfront. It is an important cultural site of the late pre-classical period of the Mayan culture in the central highlands. 💡In Mayan culture, "Kukulcán" means "feathered serpent god" and is regarded as the incarnation of the sun god. 🌟The pyramid has many unique features: ● Architectural structure: It is a nine-story circular altar made of earth, about 30 meters high, with a width of more than 55 meters on each side and a circumference of about 250 meters. The highest level has a 6-meter-high square altar temple. The pyramid is surrounded by 91 steps, totaling 364 steps, plus the Temple of the Feathered Serpent at the top, for a total of 365 steps, symbolizing the 365 days of the year. The steps of the nine-story tower are divided into 18 parts, corresponding to the number of months in a Mayan year. ● Ingenious design: At sunset on the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, the side wall of a set of steps on the north side forms seven curved isosceles triangles in the sunlight, which, together with the carved snake head at the bottom, resemble a giant snake moving from the top of the tower to the ground, symbolizing the feathered serpent god awakening at the vernal equinox and crawling out of the temple. This mysterious sight is known as the "serpent of light and shadow." ● Acoustic wonder: Standing in a certain range on the four sides of the pyramid and clapping your hands at the pyramid, you can hear an echo like a bird call that can be heard far away, which is thought to have been used in ancient times to summon tribes in the jungle to gather at the pyramid for events. 📜The Temple of Kukulcán is the pinnacle of Mayan civilization and a brilliant display of the Mayans' knowledge of architectural geometry. This is a city of 37,000 people, a new tourist destination in Yucatan, 80 kilometers from Merida. Cruises are docked here in July and August each year to explore the Mayan ruins in Mrida and Uxmal. Except for that time, it can be said that it is a livable city with few tourists. The old American lady Linda who met on the same day said she would take us to a secret place. Strictly speaking, it is not an attraction. At the end of the road is a small watchtower with an endless Gulf of Mexico. What is exciting is that the sea here presents a very rare Tiffany Blue. The seaside is still full of familiar little cute things. Although it is not so cute, it is quite shy and has no threat to human beings.
