The cheapest JW Marriott? Opened in 2019, the details are already old. The location is right next to the Confucius Temple, with several two-story buildings. I specifically asked for a room in the southeast corner. After check-in, they called to ask if there were any problems or requests, which was very thoughtful. The waiters in the hotel are generally enthusiastic. The gym is very small and the lighting is dim. It takes half an hour to get to Jinan by high-speed rail, but it's very unreasonable to take a taxi at Qufu East Station.

It is nice place to learn about Confucius, well organized, with clear directions to follow, and with online guide. Every hall has an introduction in double language including English, unfortunately the single things on show only have Chinese tags. How to get there: I suggest by taxi since is not in the historical downtown, it is located not far from the West High Speed Train Station….so I did visit it before to board the train back to Shanghai. The Xiangdian hall is the place where the incense altar is placed when offering sacrifices to Confucius. Behind the hall, the tombstone of Confucius is placed, which were engraved with "Dacheng Zhisheng Wenxuan 大成至圣文宣王墓 (Lord's Tomb). In the East is the tomb of Kong Li, his son; before that, it is the tomb of Kong Ji (Zisi), his grandson. The are tombs of more than 100,000 descendants of Confucius who have been buried there over a period of about 2000 years (I saw a very new tomb - last photo, so it means descendants of Confucius are still buried here). Over 1000 green cypresses and pine trees lining up on both sides of the road, many of them were planted in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. After entering the city walls, visitors pass through a series of archways (Jin Sheng Yu Zhen Archway, Ling Xing Gate, Taihe Yuanqi Archway, and Zhisheng Temple Archway) before reaching the main gates: Shengshi Gate, Hongdao Gate, Dazhong Gate, Tongwen Gate, Kuiwen Pavilion, the Thirteen Stele Pavilions, Dacheng Gate, Apricot Altar, Dacheng Hall, and the Sleeping Hall. Unfortunately, the Shengji Hall at the end was under renovation and not open to the public. Due to the reverence Confucius received from emperors throughout history, the temple is adorned with numerous calligraphy plaques and stone steles, and ancient towering trees can be seen everywhere. Dacheng Hall is the main hall for worshiping Confucius. During its reconstruction in the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, the emperor granted permission for the hall's roof to be covered with yellow glazed tiles, a privilege equivalent to the imperial palace. Inside the hall hangs the "Teacher for All Ages" plaque inscribed by Emperor Kangxi, which is now found in the main halls of Confucius Temples worldwide.
