Weekend Escape: Hiking Adventure to Bukit Tabur
#hikingtrails #100waysoftravel #weekendfun #malaysia
If you’re looking for a thrilling weekend hike near Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Tabur should be at the top of your list. Known for its stunning views and challenging terrain, this ridge hike offers an exciting adventure for outdoor enthusiasts.
We started early in the morning to avoid the heat and found ourselves quickly immersed in nature. The trail itself is a mix of rocky climbs and steep sections, but every step was worth it. As we ascended, the breathtaking views of the Klang Gates Dam and the surrounding greenery opened up, offering perfect photo spots along the way.
Bukit Tabur is not for beginners, but with a bit of preparation, it’s an unforgettable experience. The hike takes around 3-4 hours depending on your pace, and the feeling of standing at the top, looking over the ridges and valleys, is truly rewarding.
Tips: Start early, bring plenty of water, and wear good hiking shoes. Be cautious of the steep parts, and make sure to descend before noon to avoid the heat. A perfect weekend escape for adventure seekers!

Coffee time at Kopi Saigon!
Kopi Saigon has many outlets around Malaysia, and here I am getting my first sip of their Creme Brulee Coffee!
Cost me RM 12, the coffee was sweet and yet too sweet for me, actually, but the creme brulee fulfil each of my taste bud! ♡
The shop was soothing, very refreshing layout and even has a section for photograph!
I'm looking forward to trying another menu soon ♡

Nasi Uduk, Kopi Lain Hati
This coffee shop went viral on KL foodie and it catches my attention! I end up going here after months suppressing my desire to try.
Me and my boyfriend tried their Nasi Uduk with ayam geprek and also I ordered their tiramisu drink and a glass of ice water.
It costs RM 35.80 which for me, it's a bit pricey but not to worry about it financially because the taste is so worth it.
The special about the sambal is the taste it not to spicy for a spicy lover like me and I love how they put lime leaf that makes the sambal smells super scrumptious!
And as you could see, the pictures speaks themselves. The ambiance is chilling, a bit hazardous after thr entrance, beware of a slight inclining after the door entrance and also I love how they decorated the coffee shop so much!
It's a 7.5☆ from me ☺️
Wishing to go to Indonesia this year for a food hunting trip and also new experiences of Indonesia nature ♡

🌙 A Riverside Night Café Hidden in Melawati
Looking for a cozy night hangout spot away from the usual city crowds? I recently discovered Kopi & Keju in Melawati, and it quickly became one of those underrated places where good food, relaxing vibes, and a beautiful riverside setting come together.
Visiting at night, the atmosphere was the real highlight. Sitting by the riverside with gentle lighting, cool evening air, and the calming surroundings created the perfect escape after a busy day. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy conversations with friends, and simply appreciate the moment without feeling rushed.
Beyond the relaxing ambiance, the café’s unique character makes it a great spot for photography lovers. The combination of cozy seating, riverside views, and nighttime scenery creates plenty of opportunities to capture memorable shots. Whether you’re planning a casual meet-up, a late-night coffee session, or a quiet place to unwind, Kopi & Keju offers a refreshing alternative to typical cafés.
Sometimes the best discoveries are the hidden local spots that are not on every traveler’s list. Would you choose a riverside café for a peaceful evening or a busy city hotspot? Share your preference! ☕🌙📸✨

Learn More About the Native Communities in Muzium Orang Asli Gombak
I recently visited Muzium Orang Asli in Gombak and found it to be a surprisingly interesting experience. The museum may not be large or filled with modern interactive exhibits, but it offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, culture, and daily lives of the Orang Asli communities in Peninsular Malaysia.
As I explored the galleries, I came across traditional hunting tools, blowpipes, musical instruments, handicrafts, clothing, and replicas of traditional Orang Asli homes. Each exhibit helped me better understand their customs, beliefs, and way of life. I also appreciated how peaceful and uncrowded the museum was, allowing me to take my time reading and learning.
One of the best things is that admission is completely free, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in Malaysian heritage. If you enjoy discovering hidden gems and learning about local cultures, I would definitely recommend adding Muzium Orang Asli Gombak to your list.

Cityscape Hike 📍Bukit Madei
Bukit Madei, Gombak is a hidden gem for all you KL skyline lovers out there! This hike is totally free and brings moderate challenge levels, making it perfect for anyone up for an adventure with city views that are just chef’s kiss. 😍
Expect to spend a solid 2+ hours heading up — so round trip is about 4 hours. Definitely pack enough water and some light snacks (trust me, you’ll need ‘em). The trek can get a little steep and the weather changes fast, from sunny to cloudy and even a bit rainy, so bring a light jacket just in case. 🌦️🌲
But the real reward? When you hit the top, the panoramic view over Kuala Lumpur’s CBD is absolutely insane. It honestly rivals any rooftop bar, minus the expensive drinks and cover charge! This is one of those spots where every step and every burst of effort pays off when you finally overlook the city from the summit. Major main-character moment for your feed, especially if you want that epic “standing over the world” selfie. 📸
Bukit Madei Info:
Address: 53100, Selangor, Malaysia
If you’re craving some fresh air, a bit of nature, and a killer cityscape, add Bukit Madei to your hike bucket list ASAP. This one truly proves worth every step!

Bukit Madei : Hike to see gorgeous view of KL
Bukit Madei is your go-to spot in Gombak for a hiking adventure that’s *chef’s kiss*👌. The loop route leading to the peak is a wild ride—think medium to hard level, so be ready to sweat! It takes about 4-5 hours for hikers with average stamina, but trust me, the payoff is totally worth it.
As you climb, you’ll wander through lush bamboo forests that seriously give off Japanese garden vibes. (Low-key feeling like you’ve teleported to Kyoto? Same!) You can also detour to a cute little waterfall or chill by a calming river—pure nature bliss!
The *view of Kuala Lumpur from the top is absolutely unreal.* The city skyline looks next-level, especially during sunrise or sunset. 🤩✨
Pro tip: After your hike, hit up the coconut shop at the foothill—absolute *legendary* coconut drinks, naturally sweet and ultra refreshing. You gotta try it!
Smart Tips:
· Bring *at least* 500ml of water + some energy snacks—for real, there’s nothing available once you start hiking, so don’t risk it!
· Start early to avoid the midday heat!
· Bukit Madei is located in Gombak. The trailhead is easy to spot, but locals recommend parking at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Taman Seri Gombak (search this address: Jalan Gombak, Kampung Melayu, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Most hikers hit the trail between 6:30am–9am, and local guides are usually around on weekends.

Ready to hit those epic trails and soak up insane KL views? Let’s go!

Don’t miss this: affordable sour vegetable fish soup with free-flow rice!
Try it at Yunnan Fish Soup restaurant in Setapak (Address: 72a, Jalan Danau Niaga 1, Taman Danau Kota, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur)

Personal Insights:
Make sure to skip the fancy spots and go straight for the fish soup — it’s way less crowded, super budget-friendly (under RM20) and rice refills keep you full. The mall’s coffee shops have WiFi, so it’s a great place to chill or work after your meal.
Wrap-Up Tips:
Getting around: Use Grab for quick rides in Setapak, and Festival Mall’s parking is easy and cheap.
Food: The fish head stew is a local favorite, especially for lunch. Try the flatbread combo for the full experience!
Weather: KL is hot/humid, so dress light and bring water.
Money: Cash still rules at most food spots, but cards work at the mall.

Academic Grandeur at IIUM’s Main Auditorium 🏛️🌦️
Step into the heart of Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (IIUM) at Setapak, where the iconic Main Auditorium graces a stunning cluster of blue-roofed buildings framed by lush green hills—an Insta-worthy sight even on cloudy, rainy days! 🌄 The campus effortlessly blends Western-style architecture with a vibrant outdoor cultural landscape, speaking to its reputation as a top international Islamic university.
Your route should start at the Main Auditorium, located at IIUM Gombak, 53100, Selangor. Stroll around the core campus zone to soak in the harmonious mix of tradition and modernity—snap a panoramic shot against blue roofs and the dramatic sky from the open plaza in front of the auditorium. Must-do: peek inside the auditorium itself (subject to schedule) to get a feel for where global academic and cultural events happen. The leafy hills nearby deliver a tranquil vibe ideal for wide-angle nature shots, especially when the clouds roll in.
Practical visiting tips: Dress modestly—respectful attire is essential for entering buildings. The weather shifts fast, so bring a compact raincoat, not just an umbrella. Weekdays are best for exploring without the bustle of big events. Note: Public access to some halls may be restricted; check ahead if you intend a deeper campus exploration.
This campus isn’t just architecture—it’s a living international academic hub. If you’re keen on student life, try to time your trip for a public lecture or open day. Your photos in front of the blue rooftops and leafy hills: pure study-abroad inspiration!

I believe its tourism revenue
I decided to try this app after many friends recommended it. It has a high cost-performance ratio. My friends always use this app to book flights and hotels before going abroad, and they all highly recommend it for their trips. I thought I'd give it a try before my next trip abroad and see if it lives up to my friends' recommendations. Going abroad is always fun, and having a good app can really make all the difference.
