🕊 Mishima Taisha Shrine
History and Origins
•This shrine has long been a central one in the Izu region, famous for the fact that Minamoto no Yoritomo, exiled to Izu, prayed for victory here.
•Since the Meiji period, it has been designated a Kanpei Taisha (the highest rank of shrines awarded by the state), and continues to attract many worshippers today.
🌳 Highlights
1. Main Shrine and Worship Hall
•Gorgeous carvings adorn the shrine.
•Designated a National Important Cultural Property.
2. Sacred Deer Garden
•Deer, believed to be messengers of the gods, are kept here and can be seen up close.
3. Sacred Pond and Garden
•A spring-fed pond within the grounds allows visitors to enjoy the beautiful, refreshing garden scenery.
4. Mishima Water
•Underground water from Mt. Fuji springs up within the shrine grounds, making it famous as "Mishima Water."
•You can even take home bottled water as it's a famous spring.
🎎 Annual Events
• Annual Festival (August 15th-17th)
→ This traditional event, known as the Mishima Grand Festival, brings the entire city to life. It's a grand celebration featuring floats and portable shrines.
• Numerous events are held throughout the year, including the Setsubun Festival, New Year's visits to the shrine, and Shichi-Go-San celebrations.

🕊 Kakitagawa Park
A natural area with a beautiful walking trail. It features an intake point where meltwater from Mt. Fuji flows.
