Tricity (Trójmiasto): Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot.
Tricity (Trójmiasto) is an agglomeration of three cities on the Baltic coast: Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot. Here, you can easily combine history, seaside relaxation, and gastronomy—each city offers its own unique experience.
🌤️ When to go: September is my favorite time
In September, the weather is stable, the heat is gone, the sea is calmer, and nature takes on golden hues—perfect for walks and photos.
🏰 Gdańsk: A breath of history
Start with the Old Town: narrow streets and facades in Hanseatic Gothic, Mannerism, and Baroque styles. Be sure to see the Crane (Żuraw)—a 14th-century Gothic port crane.
Don't miss a boat ride: you can rent a motorboat without a special license—the views of the Motława River and the historical buildings are well worth it.
🌊 Sopot: Resort charm
Sopot is all about beaches and the famous 511-meter-long wooden pier (Molo): it offers stunning views, and with binoculars, you can spot Westerplatte and the Hel Peninsula.
The city's calling card is the "Crooked House" (Krzywy Domek): one of the most photographed buildings in the region. For a great atmosphere, head to Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street—it's full of cafes, shops, and a vibrant resort vibe.
⛵️ Gdynia: Port and panoramas
Gdynia blends modern architecture with maritime views. Start at Kościuszko Square, where you can try fresh fried fish.
Visit the museum ship ORP "Błyskawica" and the three-masted ship Dar Pomorza, and check out the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium. For great views, climb Kamienna Góra—from a height of 54 meters, you get a panoramic view of the port and the coastline.
🥣 Gastronomy: Top 5 dishes
· Żurek—a sour rye soup, often served in a bread bowl.
· Pierogi—dumplings with various fillings.
· Bigos - a hearty stew of cabbage, meat, and prunes.
· Pork knuckle (Golonka)—roasted meat with a crispy crust.
· Oscypek—smoked sheep cheese, grilled and served with cranberry sauce.
🍺 Beer pairs perfectly with these dishes: Żywiec, Tyskie, Lech, Okocim, or draft beers at local breweries:
🍻 Brovarnia Gdańsk (Szafarnia 9, Gdańsk) — the oldest restaurant brewery in the region, featuring an atmospheric interior and views of the Motława.
🍻 Browar & Restauracja PG4 (Podwale Grodzkie 4, Gdańsk) — features the medieval Jopenbier recipe and tasting sets.
🍻 Browar Port Gdynia (Bulwar Nadmorski im. Feliksa Nowowiejskiego 2, Gdynia) — offers panoramic sea views, a rooftop terrace, and award-winning beers.
