I am so lucky and grateful to have the chance to stay at Vancouver for 10 days during my time here in Canada. There are many beautiful creatures like little ducks residing there. If you keep walking, you will reach the ocean and have a nice sunset view. I see many people jogging and biking there. My favorite restaurant there is The Old Spaghetti Factory🍝The price is reasonable and not pricy in the central part of Vancouver where everything is somewhat a little bit more expensive. 🏮China Town🪭 Vancouver is a city with Asian immigrants, so in China Town, you can see a lot of historical Chinese buildings and get the taste of the eastern aesthetic. 🚉Vancouver Sky Train Vancouver Sky Train is an affordable way to move around in the city. I like the design of it and on the Sky Train you can see many different views of Vancouver. 🐠Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf, Richmond🐟 This is a place where you can enjoy the breeze of the sea from the Pacific Ocean. At around 4p.m. in winter time, the sunset is beautiful to witness here🌅Also, you should definitely have the classy fish and chips here. Who would have thought! You enter from the Canadian side and exit on the US side without needing a visa😭 🏛️ Peace Arch: a symbol of friendship on the border Peace Arch Park spans British Columbia, Canada, and Washington State, USA. At the center of the park stands the famous white Peace Arch. The arch is inscribed with two phrases: “May these gates never be closed” and “Brethren dwelling together in unity.” The most amazing part is that within the park, visitors can freely cross between the two countries without a passport or visa! The lawn even features the Canadian and US flags made from flowers. ⚠️ Warning! Don’t “enter” the US this way The key rule: you can freely walk within the park, but that doesn’t mean you can enter the US! You can go in, but you cannot exit from the US side of the park. In other words, if you enter from the Canadian side, you must exit from the Canadian side. Leaving from the US side into the community is considered illegal border crossing and may lead to an investigation by border enforcement. Last week, I went to Vancouver to pick up some family elders (flights between China and Seattle are still quite limited). On the way, I saw the so-called "largest Canadian flag" that reportedly cost a fortune. Both trips involved crossing the border at Peace Arch. One noticeable change was the temporary barriers placed at the U.S.-Canada boundary marker, with CBP and CSBA officers patrolling regularly. Unlike before, you can no longer casually cross between the two sides. The next morning, when returning to the U.S., I initially expected to go through secondary inspection to process the I-94. The usual procedure involves getting out of the car, lining up, answering a few interview questions, taking photos and fingerprints, and paying the fee (which has increased from $6 to $30). Depending on the crowd, I’ve waited as long as three hours before, assuming I had a valid EVUS. However, this time, the process was much smoother. At the entry point, CBP officers checked our documents while we remained in the car. They pulled up all the necessary information in their system and chatted briefly with everyone in the car. Interestingly, the CBP officer switched seamlessly between English and Chinese, allowing my family elders to answer questions on their own. Then, the officer took out a camera and snapped photos directly from the car. I was surprised since photos were usually taken inside the inspection hall. Although we were still given a slip to proceed to secondary inspection, the CBP officer instructed us to park but remain in the car. She took our slip, entered some information into the computer, confirmed a few more details, and then brought out a POS machine to collect the $30 fee. The entire process took less than 10 minutes! This was a huge time saver compared to the usual procedure. That said, I noticed that some vehicles were still being directed to the inspection hall for further checks. From this experience, it seems the I-94 process has been significantly streamlined, making it much more convenient. Hopefully, CBP continues to optimize the process in this direction.

Went to Central City Fun Park in Surrey on Sunday! It was honestly a bit surprising. First of all, it's very large and new inside, with a super rich variety of games⬇️ Besides all kinds of arcade games, there are go-karts, mini bowling, billiards 🎱, 3D pinball, claw machines, mini golf ⛳️, a roller skating rink, and a carousel 🎠 (and the spaces aren’t small at all). They even have those night market-style ring toss and ball toss games. As a 90s kid, it really brought back some nostalgia~ Also, a key highlight‼️ Next to the mini golf, down the hallway, there’s a great Photo Bomb area 📸 with 5-6 different themed setups. Some are in small rooms, others in open spaces, and every shot turns out great~ There are also a few photo sticker booths (perfect for snapping tons of pics with friends, partners, or family). Definitely worth checking out. 💰 Regarding top-ups: No need to buy tokens. You can find ATM-like machines scattered around where you can self-recharge. The more you add, the more bonus credits you get (prices are reasonable; the two of us topped up over 💰50, which was enough for a big round and we still didn’t use it all 🤔). Since I was near Vancouver, I decided to check out Peace Arch Provincial Park, located right on the border between Canada (British Columbia) and the US (Washington). The cool thing about it is that you can stand with one foot in each country without going through immigration or needing a visa. It sounds great, but honestly, there are some important details to keep in mind, so here is the lowdown without the fluff. First, the biggest rookie mistake (watch your GPS): If you’re driving (which is the only logical choice since public transit there is a total joke), whatever you do, DO NOT put "Peace Arch Monument" into your GPS. If you do, it will route you straight into the international customs lane, and you’ll end up trying to explain yourself to border agents in your best (or worst) English. Search specifically for "Peace Arch Provincial Park." Parking on the Canadian side is free. How does the "free" border zone work? The park is a shared area.
