Amboise is more than just a town; it's a backdrop for a historical film set on the riverbank. Cobbled streets, castles perched on cliffs, and vineyards stretching to the horizon... ⚔️ Royal Splendor and Da Vinci Start your day at the Royal Castle (Château Royal d'Amboise). This is not just a fortress, but a place of power for French monarchs. Climb to the terrace—the views of the Loire will make you forget about Instagram. Just 500 meters from the Royal Castle is the Château des Clos Lucés, where the great Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years. 💡TIP: · Pick up a free HistoPad at the checkout—an interactive tool that uses augmented reality and enriches your experience with reconstructions of sets, historical sites, and additional information. · Visit the Chapel of Saint-Hubert. This is where Leonardo da Vinci is buried. 🎫 Tickets: Royal Castle: €17.30 Clos Lucé: €15 🕒 Opening Hours: Every day except December 25th and January 1st 🍷 Wine and Cheese The Loire Valley is famous for its white wines and cheeses, and Amboise has something for every gourmet: 🥖Market (Marché Hebdomadaire): Held Friday and Sunday mornings. The Sunday market is gigantic (200+ stalls!). Everything is sold here: from farmhouse cheeses and oysters to lawnmowers and clothing. The atmosphere is indescribable, smelling of fresh bread and happiness. 📍 No address needed – just come to the river 🍇Ambacia Caves: This isn't a winery, but 500-year-old cellars carved directly into the rock! You can come on your own or take a guided tour with tasting. The perfect place to chill a bottle before a picnic on the riverbank. 📍Address: 56 Rue du Rocher des Violettes, 37400 Amboise, France. 🎟️ Tours 2-3 times a day (11:00, 15:00, 17:00), 25 euros 🎭 Summer music festivals and outdoor picnics 🎻 Enjoy a relaxing picnic in the castle park overlooking the Loire River and an outdoor concert. ✨Rising dramatically above the tidal waters of Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel looks like something from a medieval fairytale. Its ancient abbey, stone walls, winding lanes, and towering silhouette create one of France’s most unforgettable landscapes. 🏰🌊 Walk through the narrow medieval streets, climb toward the magnificent abbey, and watch the surrounding landscape transform with the changing tides. When the golden light touches the old stone walls, the entire island feels almost magical. ✨ Steeped in history and surrounded by nature, Mont Saint-Michel is a place that turns a simple journey into a timeless memory. 📍 Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy, France 🇫🇷 ✨ A medieval dream rising from the tides. #montsaintmichel #tripmoments #travelfrance #normandy #frenchlandmarks #medievalarchitecture #fairytaletown #wanderlust #beautifuldestinations #exploreeurope #travelinspiration

Ready for island bliss? Here’s how I soaked in Le Val-Saint-Pere, Muncan (Lombok Island), Dragey-Ronthon, Pemenang (Gili Air), and the dreamy Gili Meno – and why you should add the Gilis to your bucket list! 🌴🌊 Top Spots to Visit: Lombok Island: Start your adventure in Muncan, soaking up relaxed vibes and beach life. Gili Air Island: Accessible by boat from Lombok, Gili Air is all about chill snorkelling sessions in crystal-clear waters. Each of the Gilis has its own feel, so try to hop between them! Gili Meno: The quietest Gili, with a serious castaway mood. Out here, snorkelling is a must – and the underwater life is pure magic. Don’t miss: E-bike cruising on Gili Trawangan and those sunset beach vibes. Stay overnight on one Gili (I did – you’ll thank me!). Lots of tourist here and do try their scuba diving! Practical Travel Tips: Getting around: Most transport is by boat between islands; on the Gilis, say yes to E-biking or simply stroll everywhere (no cars!). Food: Fresh seafood is everywhere – go for local warungs in Gili Air for breakfast or sunset bites on Trawangan. Best time to go: March–October for dry, sunny days. Money: Bring cash for island purchases; ATMs can be unreliable and high tax! My pro tip: Each Gili has unique energy – if you want nightlife, pick Trawangan for sure, for chill and peacefulness, Gili Meno is your choice, for a balance and authentic eats head for Gili Air! #GiliIslands #LombokAdventure #IslandHopping #SnorkelLife #Tripcom

I share my experiences to everyone with my tips and my local suggestions because I firmly believe that skipping the overly crowded tourist traps in France to uncover places like Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei is the absolute best choice you can make for your travels. While most visitors automatically flock to the bustling streets of Paris, the packed beaches of Nice, or the crowded châteaux of the Loire Valley, this tiny medieval gem hidden along the borders of Normandy sits peacefully away from the noise. It is officially recognized as one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, yet so many people miss it entirely. Arriving here feels like stumbling upon a quiet, living fairytale where stone cottages wrap around emerald hills, lush riverbanks, and narrow cobblestone paths untouched by massive tour groups. What makes this village so deeply underrated is its incredible density of history and pure, authentic soul preserved without modern gimmicks. The village features 13 historic monuments dating from the 13th to 16th centuries, including its famous 11th-century Romanesque church perched on a cliff and a picturesque 15th-century stone chapel resting in a quiet meadow along the river Sarthe. My top local tip is to wander down through the narrow stone alleys to the old stone bridge early in the morning when the mist is still rising off the water. You can easily see why 19th-century painters fell in love with this exact view and set up their easels here; the light hitting the old tile roofs and stone walls feels like a masterpiece brought to life. If you want to truly enjoy the slow pace of rural France on a budget, this place offers unbeatable value and calm. My suggestion is to skip expensive sit-down tourist dining and head to a small village bistro or grab fresh local cheeses, a crisp baguette, and cider from a nearby market to enjoy a picnic right beside the Sarthe river. Exploring the historic architecture, walking the scenic nature trails winding through the surrounding Alpes-Mancelles region, and browsing local artisan workshops costs virtually nothing. Stepping away from the usual travel itineraries to experience a place where historic heritage, peaceful nature, and artistic spirit thrive together gives you the rare gift of having an authentic French paradise almost entirely to yourself. #SaintCeneriLeGerei #LesPlusBeauxVillagesDeFranceDeFrance #UnderratedFrance #FranceTravel #HiddenGemsFrance #SlowTravel #OffTheBeatenPath #TravelStorytelling #underratedspots

Gary led our family group of four (ages 22 to 80) on an exceptional three-day Polish Normandy Battlefield tour in late April/early May 2026. We visited numerous sites including the D-Day beaches, the Normandy British Memorial—particularly impressive with the ‘Standing with Giants’ installation—Pegasus Bridge, Ranville Commonwealth War Cemetery, and key locations tied to airborne landings and early ground battles. We traced the Polish 1st Armoured Division's route during Operation Totalize, exploring battle sites such as St Aignan, Saint Sylvain, Cavicourt, Jort, and ultimately Hill 262 (Mont Ormel), which was profoundly moving. The Polish Military Cemetery at Urville-Langannerie was especially touching, standing among the graves of Polish soldiers who fought so far from home. We truly enjoyed traveling with Gary, who made the experience both informative and educational. His vast knowledge of the Normandy campaign paired with his thoughtful planning tailored the tour perfectly to our needs. At each site, his clear and engaging explanations were enriched by historical photos, letters, and veterans’ firsthand accounts. He skillfully brought history to life and patiently answered all our questions. If you ever have the chance, don’t miss the opportunity to tour with Gary and Pegasus Battlefield Tours!

I came by train from Le Havre to Étretat (TER, €9.20, 25 min), walked to the Falaise d’Amont (north cliff) first. The Chapel of Notre-Dame de la Garde sits on top, free to pass; the view south takes in the Porte d’Aval arch and the Aiguille (needle) sticking out of the sea—Monet painted this exact frame. Then I descended to the pebble beach, crossed town, and climbed Falaise d’Aval (south) for the classic postcard. Next day I attempted the 4 km cliff-path walk east toward Le Havre direction (actually toward Cap d’Antifer) but turned back—the GR21 is gorgeous but 18 km to Le Havre is a full day, not a stroll. Instead I bused: Étretat→Le Havre line 24 (€1.90, 45 min) and spent the afternoon at Le Havre's seafront, rebuilt by Perret post-1944—concrete prom, empty wind, and the Musée Malraux (€7, free 1st Sun) if rain hits. Mistake: I parked in Étretat in July at 10 am and paid €4.50/hr; the lot fills by 9. Arrive by train. Second mistake: wore suede shoes on the chalk path after rain—slippery as ice. Food: Étretat crêpe €6.50 on Rue de Paris; Le Havre fish stew €18 at the port. Worth it? Étretat's twin cliffs are a must—2 hrs max—but Le Havre seafront is a windy concrete essay, not a charm stop; pair Étretat with Honfleur (bus 20, €2) instead of Le Havre if you want pretty. Question: does the white-chalk arch beat the town of Le Havre itself, or are they two different trips pretending to be one

#europetrip Spring evenings in Trouville cast a spell over the harbor. As the sun dips low, the fishing boats sway gently in the Touques River estuary, their masts silhouetted against a pastel sky . The quayside comes alive with a warm, romantic glow as lights reflect off the calm water . I wandered along the quays, past fishermen mending nets and the day's last catch being unloaded at the fish market . The air carried that perfect blend of sea salt and fresh spring breeze. At Le Central brasserie by the port, table 309 still waits—the same spot where Marguerite Duras wrote and dreamed . Trouville at dusk isn't just beautiful; it's literary history bathed in golden light. #TrouvilleSurMer #NormandyEvenings #SpringInFrance #HarborViews #MargueriteDuras

If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris and breathe in some fresh sea air for the day, Deauville is a must-visit. Located on the Normandy coast, this seaside resort town is just a two-hour train ride from Paris. Dubbed the "Parisian Riviera," it has been a favorite getaway for Parisians since the 19th century. Deauville's most iconic features are its expansive sandy beach dotted with colorful umbrellas and Les Planches, the famous wooden boardwalk that runs parallel to the shore. The boards are inscribed with the names of Hollywood stars who have attended the Deauville American Film Festival, adding a unique charm to your seaside stroll. Another signature sight of the town is the vibrant beach umbrellas set against the backdrop of traditional Normandy half-timbered houses, blending upscale elegance with cozy coastal vibes. Beyond the beach, you can take a leisurely walk around the marina, relax at local cafes, dine at seafood restaurants, or visit the historic casino—another iconic landmark of the town. Deauville might not boast massive monuments, but it's the perfect place to slow down, enjoy the ocean breeze, listen to the crashing waves, and simply let time slip away. Sometimes, the true joy of travel isn't about checking off every tourist spot, but rather pausing to soak in the beautiful moments right in front of you. 📍 Deauville, Normandy, France 🇫🇷 🚆 About a 2-hour journey from Paris
