Today, I took a frosty day trip from #vilnius to #trakai, a charming lakeside town steeped in history. The highlight of the visit was of course the iconic Trakai Island Castle, perched on an island in the middle of Lake Galvė. Today of all days, the clear December sky beautifully mirrored the castle in the surrounding water. I wandered through the castle's halls, learning about its rich history as a medieval stronghold and a seat of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Afterwards, I visited a local eatery called Kybnylar and treated myself to a local Karaim specialty, kibinai—delicious stuffed pastries enjoyed by the local minority group. #2024wish Two years ago, my journey led me to the Trakai Island Castle in Vilnius, Lithuania, a place where history and fantasy converge. As I strolled along the cobblestone paths, the castle's red-brick façade emerged, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Galvė. The air was filled with a sense of timelessness, transporting me to a fairytale landscape. Crossing the wooden drawbridge, I entered a realm of medieval charm. The castle's interiors, adorned with artifacts and echoes of the past, revealed the rich tapestry of Lithuania's history. Climbing the castle walls offered panoramic views of the idyllic surroundings, enhancing the enchantment of this historical gem. Trakai Island Castle became not just a destination but a vivid chapter in my personal fairytale of exploration. In 2024, I wish to visit Langkawi.

I came here as a VOLUNTEER ! To explore all that’s great in the Lithuania. I enjoyed this trip very much. Alot of places to shop for Souvenirs, Restaurants, and Activities ! I was in the mood for some breakfast and noticed how different some of the dishes were. Also, Drinks of course are different as well ( not in the pictures) I love me a nice cold drink of lemonade and theirs have a very unique taste to it. Trakai castle was very cool.. I learned alot about its history and it was very enjoyable to see Putin inside of the Well in shackles 😂 Last but not least I’ve done the boat rides but having to pedal yourself seemed to be therapeutic and easier than we thought. Vilnius is one of the only capitals in Europe where it’s completely legal to fly in a hot air balloon over the city legally. The views down below are completely breathtaking and you can either fly directly over the Vilnius old town or choose, like I did, to fly over the nearby city of Trakai instead looking down upon it’s beautiful lakes and castle as you soar in the balloon with an experienced driver. Lithuania is becoming more and more popular and it’s easy to see why as it hosts so many incredible other spots outside of the capital like the Hill of Crosses (a hill made up of over 200,000 crosses), the dunes of Nida and the amazing cities of Kaunas and Klaipeda. First of all, it's a castle, but isn't it cute because it's so mini? It seems to be the smallest castle I've seen so far. But it's on a lake, so it's romantic, so it's a plus point~! But when I went inside, the inside of the castle was well decorated. Each room, such as the chapel, museum, and memorial hall, had a theme, so it was quite fun to look around. Trakai is a tourist destination, so basically the price range of restaurants seems to be about 1.5 times higher ㅠㅠ Don't do that. The restaurant I'm introducing today is a place where you can taste delicious oven-baked pizza at a good price!
