People from Northeast China "take over" Hainan, while Russians "take over" Thailand. Every winter, like migratory birds, they fly from cold Siberia to the warm, humid south to winter there!

Sanya, Bangkok, Phuket—which one is the "Russian hub"?
I checked the 2025 winter/spring flight schedule and compiled the data.
I have to say, in terms of the variety of destinations and airlines, Phuket wins by a landslide. It is the ultimate hub!

In winter, visiting these 3 airports is a treat for spotting Russian aircraft. You might even catch some impressive Russian heavy metal. I remember one day I was able to photograph 5 Aeroflot 777s taking off and landing—it was incredible!
·
✅ Recommended camera focal lengths
Bangkok Airport: 200–600mm/100–400mm
Phuket Airport: 100–400mm
·
I recommend planning a plane spotting trip to these 3 airports this winter.

The 2-Hour Flight Test: Do Premium Airlines Care
#footballlandmarks
Travel Intelligence: Why 2-Hour Flights Are the Ultimate Test for Premium Airlines ✈️💼
There is an unspoken rule in aviation: it’s easy to impress a passenger on a 10-hour transatlantic flight. You have all the time in the world to serve multi-course meals and distribute luxury amenity kits. But the true test of an airline’s commitment to premium service happens on short, regional routes.
Most global carriers switch to "survival mode" on short flights. If you fly a 2-hour route in Europe or the US, even in Business Class, you’ll likely get a cold sandwich in a cardboard box and a basic cup of coffee.
However, some regional airlines are completely breaking this pattern. Look at the data from my recent short-haul Business Class flights out of Moscow to destinations like Ufa (2 hours), Kaliningrad (2.5 hours), and Krasnodar with S7 Airlines 💚:
· Fine Dining in 120 Minutes: Instead of a generic chicken-and-rice tray, you get a full restaurant experience. They serve a classic Caesar salad as an appetizer, followed by their signature dish: delicate, premium crab ravioli 🦀. Having real crab on a flight that lasts shorter than a movie is an absolute game-changer.
· The Sweet Details: No dry muffins here. Along with freshly brewed coffee, you receive a flawless trio of fresh French macarons 🍬.
· A Full Cocktail Bar: Even on a short hop, a comprehensive bar menu featuring curated alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails is fully available. 🍸
The Expert Take:
When you book a short-haul premium ticket, you aren't just paying for a wider seat. You are paying for time efficiency on the ground (fast-track security, premium lounge access) and a complete sensory reset in the air. You land completely relaxed, well-fed, and ready to head straight into a business meeting or a city excursion.
True luxury isn't about the distance you fly; it’s about how much comfort an airline can pack into a single hour.
❓ What’s your take on short-haul Business Class? Is it a smart investment for your energy and productivity, or do you save your budget strictly for long-haul flights? Let’s talk below! 👇

Real Crab Ravioli at 35,000 Feet?! 🦀✈️
#myfootballnight
Crab Ravioli at 35,000 Feet? Outsmarting the Short-Haul Flight Cliché 🦀✨
Let’s be honest: we’ve all been conditioned to expect absolutely nothing from short-haul airplane food. A tiny packet of peanuts or a dry cookie is usually the highlight of a 2-hour flight.
But my recent trip completely shattered that cliché.
I’ve been testing short regional routes from Moscow to Kaliningrad, Ufa, and Krasnodar with S7 Airlines, and their short-haul Business Class menu won my heart instantly.
Imagine looking out the window at the clouds while being served a crisp Caesar salad, followed by hot, perfect ravioli stuffed with real crab meat 😭❤️. It is easily better than what you get in many upscale city restaurants. To top it off, you get a beautiful set of three colorful macarons with your espresso, and a custom cocktail menu to set the perfect mood for your weekend getaway. 🍸🍬
It makes you realize that travel should never be just about enduring the transit—the journey itself can be a luxury experience, even if it only lasts 150 minutes.
❓ Foodies, let’s settle this: What is the best meal you’ve ever had on a plane? Did a short-haul flight ever surprise you like this? Drop your favorite airline eats in the comments! 👇

Why Cheap Flights Might Cost You More Time & Money ⏱️💡
#footballlandmarks
The Travel Hack Nobody Talks About: The Hidden ROI of Short-Haul Premium Tickets ⏱️💡
"Why spend money on Business Class if the flight is only two hours?" This is the most common question I get from travelers looking to optimize their budget.
But if you look at travel through the lens of Time Management, the math changes completely.
On recent flights to Ufa and Kaliningrad, booking a premium ticket with S7 Airlines wasn't an indulgence—it was a strategic hack to protect my energy. Here is the true Return on Investment (ROI) of a 2-hour premium flight:
1. Zero Airport Friction: You skip the massive holiday lines, breeze through fast-track security checkpoints, and wait in a quiet lounge with high-speed Wi-Fi. You save at least 90 minutes of pure stress before boarding.
2. The Micro-Restaurant Effect: Instead of rushing to buy overpriced, mediocre airport fast food before boarding, you get a high-end, 3-course hot meal on the plane (yes, actual crab ravioli and gourmet macarons). 🍽️
3. Instant Productivity: Instead of landing exhausted, cramped, and hungry from a packed economy cabin, you step off the plane completely refreshed, energized, and ready to conquer your destination immediately.
Stop thinking of premium tickets as just "luxury." In modern travel, it’s a tool to buy back your time, your health, and your peace of mind. 🧘♂️
❓ Time vs. Money: Would you pay extra on a short flight to save your energy on the ground, or do you prefer to rough it out in economy for flights under 3 hours? Tell me your strategy! 👇

What to Do on the Ufa Necklace Eco-Trail?。
What to do on the Bashkir Necklace eco-trail?
1. Feed the squirrels and birds. The local squirrels 🐿️ are practically tame and used to tourists.
You'll find beautiful, custom-branded feeders (squirrel dining rooms) along all the routes. Make sure to bring some raw seeds or nuts with you.
2. Spot wooden art installations
Along the Ufa Lemons and Karaidel trails, local craftsmen have carved figures of forest creatures, Mari heroes, and mythical beings out of fallen trees.
3. Catch the sunset at the observation decks. The best views are on the Karaidel trail (facing east for sunrises) and the Voronki trail (facing west for sunsets over the Belaya River). You'll find comfy benches, swings, and lounge chairs set up there.
4. Snap some photos on the wooden boardwalks. The ultimate pride of the trail is the elevated boardwalks on stilts. They protect the tree roots and look incredibly photogenic, especially in the evening when the soft lighting kicks in.
5. Get a workout in 💪. You'll find modern outdoor fitness areas with exercise equipment set up all along the routes.
Practical tips for tourists
Navigation. The Ufa Necklace has a handy website and app (you can also check out the detailed trail maps on 2GIS or Yandex Maps). Keep an eye out for signs on trees and poles indicating distances and directions.
Bikes 🚳 and scooters 🛴
Most sections feature parallel paths: a gravel one for pedestrians and an asphalt one for cyclists. However, it's best to stick to walking on the steeper slopes (like the Karaidel trail).
Evening safety
Almost all the completed sections are well-lit until late at night (the LED lights 💡 blend perfectly into the forest). It's totally safe and comfortable to take a stroll even after the sun goes down.
Wear comfortable shoes (sneakers). Even though the trails are well-maintained, you're still in an actual forest. And if you're visiting in the summer, don't forget your mosquito repellent 🦟
The Ufa Necklace is a prime example of how a wild, urban forest can be transformed into a cozy and trendy public space. You can easily spend an entire day here: kick things off with a tour of the Lemonarium, walk a couple of kilometers through the woods, feed the squirrels, and wind down in the evening by sipping tea from a thermos on a swing overlooking the river.

Eco-trail Ufa Necklace
The Ufa Necklace
And this isn't just about jewelry 🤗, it's one of the coolest and most ambitious eco-projects in Bashkortostan. It's a unified network of landscaped pedestrian and bicycle trails that literally encircles the Ufa peninsula, passing through picturesque urban forests, parks, and along the banks of the Belaya and Ufimka rivers.
The project is actively developing, and now it's a fully-fledged forest fairytale within the metropolis: with lighting, wooden walkways, signs, sports areas, and observation decks.
The main routes, the main beads of the necklace, so to speak:
The project is divided into several developed sections in different areas of the city. Here are the most popular and interesting sections, which are already ready for walking:
1. Ufimskie Lemony Route (Oktyabrsky/Sovetsky District)
It starts near the famous Ufa Lemonarium (152/2 Mendeleyeva Street) or from the Lesovodov Bashkiria Forest Park. It's approximately 2-2.5 km long. Its unique feature is that it's the greenest and most populated area. It's ideal for walking with children. It features wide paths (gravel and asphalt) and numerous playgrounds made from eco-friendly materials.
2. Karaidel Trail Route (Kirovsky District)
It starts behind the President Hotel (2 Avrory Street). It's approximately 1.5 km long.
Its unique feature is the stunning panoramic views of the Ufa (Karaidel) River and the surrounding countryside. The trail runs along the hillside. It is equipped with wooden walkways and stairs in areas with difficult terrain.
3. Route - Aqueduct/Sinkhole Trail (Oktyabrsky District). Start behind the Russian Drama Theater (Lenin Square) or near the helipad. It's about 2 km long.
The trail passes through a historic site; Ufa's first water intake was once located here. The cliffs offer stunning views of the Belaya River and the railway bridge 🌉.
Century-old oak trees 🌳, karst sinkholes (hence the name of the district), and old water intake structures that look like abandoned castles.
The Ufa Necklace includes a number of other routes 🧭 about which I have little information yet; I've only listed the most popular. #Ufa #Bashkiria #Ufa Necklace #Ecotrail #TravelAroundRussia #NatureBashkiria #Ufa2026

Ufa, Bashkortostan
This is my third visit to the capital of Bashkortostan. I really like this city. The national cuisine, the people, the nature 🏞️, and the city itself is very cozy.
Unfortunately, the monument to Salavat Yulaev is currently undergoing restoration 🛠️, but even without it, I always find new places to explore in Ufa. #Ufa

Valera the tick in Ufa
Valera the Tick
Tick monument🪲 in Ufa.
If you thought you'd seen all the strangest monuments in Russia, I hasten to surprise you with another "masterpiece" 😉
Finding this monument only seemed simple at first. After visiting all the main sights of Ufa, I set myself the task of finding this monument.
The difficulty was that it was too small, both the pedestal itself, a small stone, and the tick itself 🤣
In the end, the GPS persistently tried to show me the spot, but I couldn't see it at all; I even had to walk around the house next to it three times.
But in the end, only with the help of reviews on Google Maps did I manage to stumble upon it. The small stone and the small tick monument were found.
A monument made of 925 sterling silver, reminding city residents of a tolerant attitude towards living beings. "Everyone has the right to live; there are no good or bad people." The tick as one of the symbols of the Ural Mountains. #tick #ufa

Ufa in winter is magical! Despite the cold, you can have a great time. There are plenty of great restaurants with delicious food, you can visit the bathhouses, relax with friends and family, enjoy delicious snacks, and enjoy the saunas. Come to Ufa, I highly recommend it!

How to see Ufa in 2 days?
When I was preparing for the trip, I read that Ufa has nothing to see. But I disagree. We spent two full days in the city, and here's what we saw:
The Museum of Archeology and Ethnography. Beautiful national costumes, a hall of archaeological finds, and the museum's and Ufa's crown jewel—Sarmatian gold. These unique gold pieces date back to the 4th century BC and were found in the Filippovsky burial mounds.
The Aksakov Museum is the house where the writer best known for his work "The Scarlet Flower" lived. Nearby is Sofyushkina Alley.
Ufa's most important monument, the city's calling card, is the Salavat Yulaev Monument. It sits on a hill and offers stunning views of the Belaya River. It is currently undergoing restoration.
Another monument is the Friendship Monument and, nearby, the Ufa Colonnade. In fact, the entire historic center of Ufa is located between these monuments.
· "Seven Girls" Fountain
· Gostiny Dvor
· Ethno Village - buy local souvenirs, very beautiful and interesting.
· "I love Ufa" sign in Bashkir - area of two fountains.
· "Art-Kvadrat" - a creative modern space. I would recommend visiting; I liked it.
· Lyalya Tyulpan Mosque - Ufa's main mosque. It's quite far from the center, but if you go, there's a park nearby where you can stroll.
Pushkin Street - glows in the evening, like Nikolskaya Street in Moscow.
Lenin Street also has beautiful lighting and sculptures in the evening.
Ufa's most historic street is Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya. But I don't recommend going there, as you won't be disappointed. Unfortunately, the houses are abandoned and falling apart. Some beautiful window frames can still be found.
Where to eat?
· House of Bashkir Cuisine - there wasn't much national cuisine, but everything was delicious and inexpensive.
· AzykTyulek, a local restaurant
· "Cafe for Friends" breakfasts
Ufa also has its own Lemonarium, which we didn't have time to visit.
Bashkiria's main attraction is its natural beauty. One of the most accessible by public transport is the Aigir Rocks. You can take a tour, or explore on your own.
And there are many other excursions in the surrounding area.
Overall impression: very clean, delicious, and beautiful.
