I think the biggest advantage is that you can feel it in Guam. The weather was perfect for me, who easily gets cold, and above all, the ocean is so beautiful.

One of the things I was most excited about while planning my trip to Guam was the Southern tour. This was my second visit to Guam, but since I didn’t have a driver’s license during my first trip, I couldn’t explore the Southern area back then. Unlike the resort areas in the North, the Southern tour offers a chance to fully experience nature, history, and the laid-back local atmosphere. So, we decided to rent a car and drive around the Southern region ourselves. There were no entrance fees for any of the stops on this itinerary. 🩵 Emerald Beach The first stop was Emerald Beach. Just like its name, the sea sparkled with a true emerald hue, which felt even more magical compared to the color of Korean seas. The water was so clear that you could easily spot fish swimming around, including many eel-like fish. It seemed like a perfect spot for snorkeling, but I heard the water was deeper than it appeared. Unfortunately, that was all there was to it. 😢 🩷 Guam Southern Office Next, we visited the Guam Southern Office. At first, I wondered why we were stopping here, but once we arrived, I realized it was a beautiful building surrounded by open scenery, making it a great photo spot. Although the weather turned cloudy, which affected the photos, I could imagine how stunning it would look on a sunny day with the red roof, blue sky, and palm trees blending together to create Guam’s warm and tranquil vibe. ❤️ Fort Soledad Then, we headed to Fort Soledad, a place I had been eager to visit. Since the fort is located on high ground, the view was absolutely breathtaking! The sight of the ocean and village below was truly awe-inspiring. This fort was used during the Spanish colonial era, and there was a coconut vendor right in front of it. He would crack open a coconut on the spot, allowing you to enjoy the refreshing coconut water. After finishing the water, he would split the shell in half and scrape out the flesh, serving it like sashimi to be dipped in a spicy sauce. Surprisingly, it was incredibly delicious! (However, the tools used might not be very hygienic, so those with weaker immune systems should be cautious.) 💜 Merizo Park Our final stop was Merizo Park. This place was memorable for the sight of locals swimming or enjoying picnics with their families. Even just stepping slightly into the water revealed a variety of adorable fish, making it feel like a tiny aquarium. You could see the underwater creatures clearly without snorkeling gear, which made observing marine life up close even more enjoyable. Simply dipping your feet in the water was refreshing and delightful. Southern Guam truly offers a chance to experience the untouched beauty of the island. You can leisurely explore all the locations in a single day without feeling rushed. The Southern region is filled with local charm, distinct from the glamorous resorts in the North. I highly recommend experiencing it at least once!

Mt. Lamlam trekking is perfect for people like me who like to walk or who relieve stress while walking🥾 There's one fun fact about Mt. Lamlam! It's said to be the highest mountain in the world when measured from the ground! It's also a pilgrimage route, so Guam people come here regularly to climb it! Since it's a trekking course, it's not very steep and it takes about 2 hours round trip! It's not very steep, but it's better to wear hiking boots and trekking to protect your ankles!
