The wonderful South West Coast path ❤️ #cornwall #Porthcothan #Bedruthansteps
A great walk between Porthcothan and Bedruthan Steps, following the amazing South West Coast Path. The beautiful and wild scenery is fabulous whatever the weather, or time of year. Our walk took in views and area used in the Poldark series on the BBC. It is an enchanting place for sure. The path is well used and well sign posted, with lots of benches at strategic points to rest a while and enjoy the amazing, awe-inspiring scenery.
Walk from either end past Porth Mear cove and around Park Head. We watched the sea birds, diving and dipping in the wind as we walked, accompanied by Skylarks chirruping from the adjacent fields.
At each end of the walk are tasty friendly cafe’s to treat yourself to a welcome cup of tea, and of course a scone jam snd clotted cream 😋
If travelling by car, there is a car park at either end of the walk, behind the beach in a car park or the National Trust at Carnewas. Alternatively get there by bus from either Newquay or Padstow, with stops at both carparks.

Bedruthan Steps, Cornwall 🌊 | Where Giants Once Walked & Flowers Whisper in May
#holidayitinerary
Tucked away on Cornwall’s rugged north coast, Bedruthan Steps is a mythical clifftop paradise said to be the stomping ground of a giant named Bedruthan. When the tide recedes, towering rock stacks emerge like natural stepping stones, carved by waves and legend alike. In early May, the cliffs come alive with pink thrift and yellow wild roses, a fleeting floral magic that locals say mustn’t be picked—lest you wake the sleeping giant. Remote and wild, this secret spot is best reached by car (about 4–5 hours from London via the M5), rewarding visitors with haunting beauty and folklore-laced wind.
