When "Avatar: The Way of Water" had just been released, I happened to visit West Kirby on the west side of Liverpool. The radio was playing Beatles songs all the way, and for the first time, I felt their music was so in tune with this land. Arriving at West Kirby, the tide was low at noon, exposing the mudflats but muddy. You can walk to Hilbre Island and gaze across to Wales. As the seawater recedes, it leaves winding marks on the soft sand. Endless waves, on their own timeline, gently caress the rocky cliffs, carving them hard, the patterns becoming homogenized. As the islands are located about two miles from the mainland, make sure you bring proper walking shoes as it can be a little soggy! And make sure you check the tide times - the islands are cut off from the mainland for about 5 hours in every 12. You don’t want to get stranded!
