If you're visiting Perth and only have half a day to spare, Perth Zoo is one of those places that's absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. I originally thought it would just be another zoo, but I was genuinely surprised by how peaceful, spacious and well-designed it is. Unlike many zoos I've visited, the animals here live in beautifully landscaped habitats that feel close to nature rather than enclosed exhibits. The highlight, of course, was finally seeing Australia's iconic wildlife in person. Watching a sleepy koala resting high in the eucalyptus trees was exactly the Australian moment I had imagined. The kangaroos were even better—they were incredibly relaxed, hopping around their large open enclosure while visitors quietly admired them from nearby walkways. One unexpected favourite was the wombat. They're much bigger than I expected and somehow even cuter in real life. I also loved seeing the colourful birds, playful meerkats, giraffes, lions and tigers, making this zoo much more diverse than I anticipated. What impressed me most wasn't just the animals—it was the atmosphere. The entire zoo is filled with lush gardens, shady trees and winding walking paths, making it enjoyable even on warm days. It never felt overcrowded, and there were plenty of benches and picnic areas where families were relaxing under the trees. It felt more like strolling through a botanical garden than rushing between animal exhibits. Visiting Caversham Wildlife Park in Perth was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Australia. Took these photos at Caversham wildlife park. It’s one of the must-visit places in Perth where you get to snuggle up close with the wildlife animals of Australia. The park is a little crowded when we were there but there were ample places to park your vehicle. Entrance fee was reasonable as the park was huge I’d say it’s as big as a typical zoo except you get an interactive experience with the animals and can even take photos with a Koala. #summervacay Caversham Wildlife Park Not far from downtown Perth, and definitely worth a visit! This zoo offers great interactivity and participation — perfect for kids who love animals, they’ll be thrilled! We went on a Saturday and there were lots of locals, so we had to queue quite a while at the entrance. · You’ll get a green map at the entrance. · Pay attention to the schedule on it — there are fixed times for:  · Meet the Koala  · Meet the Wombat  · Penguin Feeding  · Farm Show Make sure to go early and line up in advance to get a front-row spot — if you're late, you won’t see much. The queue to take a photo with the koala was super long (guess how I found out... 😅). I visited a wildlife park located about 30 minutes by car from the center of Perth, Australia! It's highly recommended because you can meet Australia's popular animals that are hard to encounter in the city all at once! First, we experienced feeding kangaroos🦘. You can see them freely roaming around the spacious grounds, living as if they were in the wild! It's super cute to see them hopping towards you when you place food in your palm❤️. The ones with white fur are said to be albino!? Next, you can take photos next to a wombat being held by a zookeeper! It's okay to touch their feet👌🏽. For koalas, it's okay to gently stroke their backs with the back of your hand👌🏽. There are photo lists of the koalas and wombats on the wall, so it's fun to find out which one you interacted with! Just like humans, each one has a different face, so you can also look for your favorite!

We loved how easy it is to find a nice playground in perth and pur favourite has got to be Pia's Place. Pia's Place is located at Whiteman Park and it is designed to include kids of all abilities to play in a safe natured based inclusive space. The playground is super fun, not just for the young but also for the adults. It is a great place for the children to explore, laugh and learn, and where everyone can just play together. There is so much to play there. For example, there are swings, long slides, a flying fox, a merry go round and a massive lighthouse for kids to play. We first noticed the Motor Museum when we visited Caversham Wildlife Park at Whiteman Park, but it was already too late to go in. Since our son was really into cars, we decided to return another day. The museum has a surprisingly large collection, from classic cars and racing cars to buses and other vehicles. Our son enjoyed walking from one car to another, and there was also a car he could sit in. We arrived around 10:50am and spent about an hour inside. For us, it was worth coming back. Our son enjoyed the visit, and we also liked seeing the different cars along the way. If you’re visiting Caversham Wildlife Park with a child who likes cars, I would check the Motor Museum opening hours before going.
