The evening is the time to visit Huangxing Road Pedestrian Street as the lighted store fronts are a dazzling display. Such pedestrian streets are popular with tourists and common in most cities, I have visited many in China, and think this is one of the best. There is a certain charm about it, and each time I walk along it, I notice something I did not notice before. The street is pulsating with music, vibrant, and of course commercialised but still impressive. Nighttime is more interesting than a daytime visit. The southern exit of the pedestrian street is at Namenkou metro station, from here you can walk north. Near the metro station there are side streets with small fruit and food stalls, whereas once you get into the pedestrian street you will be surrounded by larger stores, many of which have eye-catching facades. By the time you have walked up to Wuyi Square metro station, you will be in the thick of the high end designer stores. Taiping old street is also a must for diversion from the Main Street. You must try the stinky tofu which is a local delicacy. I was sucked in by the chocolate ‘museum’. As I walked the corridors with life sized chocolate statues and information board, I knew I would end up in a chocolate shop, which I did, though if you can withstand the hard sell, it is worth a visit to see the displays. Huogongdian, also known as Qianyuan Palace, includes several structures, such as the Fire God Temple, Wealth God Temple, Mitra Pavilion, and Puci Pavilion. It is a massive structure of red and gold. It is interesting to see traditional features alongside people watching world cup football matches on a big screen. Wén Hé Yǒu Restaurant is amulti-floor dining experience designed like an old Changsha street, complete with a small gondola ride, offering both local cuisine and cultural immersion. You will not get bored walking along this street. I stayed in the S-Hotel 5 min walk south of Namenkou metro station, meaning I ended up in this area after every day out. It was good to stay in a location that was convenient, in walking distance of this area, but also away from this busy area and quiet. When walking back to my hotel I would stop at a sole street vendor who would make me some fried rice. The main hall was rebuilt in the 4th year of the Yuan Dynasty’s Yanyou era (1317). There is a free parking lot at the foot of the mountain, and a shuttle bus will pick you up. There are also charging stations for electric cars. The staff will help you with your luggage. 2. Getting There - by car Attractions - Beautiful ancient town Get away from the hussle and bussle and head into the countryside. Beautiful ancient temples and you can even get a traditional future reading by a local man at the temple. Green and lush tea plantations surround Wuyi and it is nice to wander through the town, either by foot or by bicycle. The alleys are Beautiful, and the local people are kind and are going about their daily life and routine. This truely is the definition of slow living. the trip was around the niutoushan mountain area. we went on a cold, rainy day but it was still worth our time. the hiking trail consists of beautiful water falls, and pools of clear water. the are areas with steep steps but the sites are very much worth it. there’s a glass bride and various viewing points to overlook the beautiful mountains and greenery all around the area. this area also has a temple high up at the peak of the mountain ⛰. it was generally quiet, and peaceful and there are many spots to capture great photos. Getting There - You can either take the train from Shanghai to Wuyi or a car/bus. 🚄 Attractions - Wuyi had amazing hiking trails and many waterfalls. 🥾 It was a wet and cold morning but nothing was going to stop me from a little hiking. The hike has many stairs and it’s fairly safe. The views are amazing and really breathe taking. ⛰ When you finally reach the top you can see the view from a glass bridge, if you’re looking to leave escape the big City this is the perfect place to get a little reboot. 🌉 I would suggest going with a tour group to do the hike or with a group that you see at the location. Tangfeng Hot Spring is the best way to get away from it all! We went every day for 4 days. Just trying out different pools, relaxing in the fresh air, and getting massages. Everything about this facility is 5 stars. Pristine water, extremely clean grounds, well attended and frequently cleaned locker room and a tranquil location. We had a wonderful time at Tanfeng Hot Spring Resort. Having our own private soaking tub was especially nice. We used it twice a day! The mattress and comforter provided a great night’s sleep. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and the resort was relatively empty, it was such a nice change of pace from Shanghai!! We took the resort shuttle to the hot springs every day, it is about 2 minutes by shuttle or 8 minutes on foot. It was a perfect getaway and we will return. #holidayvacation#merryxmas
