Although the Xishan Island resort area in Suzhou is not large, it is surrounded by Taihu Lake, boasting beautiful scenery, convenient transportation, and numerous guesthouses and hotels. This summer vacation, our family of four stayed on the island for four nights and experienced three guesthouses, all of which were quite nice. The three guesthouses are: 1. DeerHouse Full Lake View Holiday Guesthouse: Located at No. 94 Yangwu, Shigong Village, Jinting Town. This guesthouse has more than thirty rooms, each with a private balcony overlooking the beautiful Taihu Lake. Walking by the lake at night, you can hear the waves lapping against the shore. The environment is very peaceful. 2. Suzhou Taihu Banshan Lake View Villa: Located at No. 2 Qilian Settlement Area, Piaomiao Village, Jinting Town. This guesthouse consists of three independent villas with a total of 13 rooms and features a swimming pool, making it a great party house. The rooms are uniquely designed, each with large floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a lush green courtyard. The villa has its own pool where you can soak in the water and watch the sunset in the evening. 3. Suzhou Taihu Junting Lake View Pool Party Guesthouse: Located at No. 128, Group 1, Houbu, Jiangdong Village, Jinting Town. This guesthouse is quite large with twenty-one rooms. The rooms are well-equipped and the environment is comfortable. The buffet service here is especially recommended, offering fresh seafood, steaming barbecue, tender grilled lamb chops, grilled vegetables, various snacks, and desserts. We also experienced farmhouse dining on the island. On the first day, we dined at a farmhouse restaurant by Taihu Lake. The environment was beautiful and picturesque, with direct views of Taihu Lake. We ordered steamed fish, salted shrimp, and farmhouse dishes, all tasting very good. On the second day, we ate at a fisherman's restaurant, which also had a great environment with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. We ordered Taihu’s "Three Whites" fish and Taihu braised pork, which were authentic and delicious. We visited several attractions on the island. On the first day, we went to Shigong Mountain Scenic Area, which features beautiful scenery including Shigong Temple, Shigong Zen Temple, Jigong Hall, and Mingxin Pavilion, offering panoramic views of Taihu Lake; on the second day, we visited Linwu Cave Scenic Area, which includes the Eight Views of Linwu (Linwu Plum Sea, Ruiyun Temple, White Dragon Cave, Linwu Spring Cave, Zodiac Stone Carvings, Shigong Stone Lady, Hanging Coffin Burial Site); on the third day, we explored Xishan Island Scenic Area (Shengen Temple, Xishan Temple); and on the fourth day, we visited Mingyue Bay Ancient Village Scenic Area (Ancient Wharf, Ancient Well, Ancient Street). In summary, we had a very happy and comfortable stay on Xishan Island. The accommodations are excellent, the food is delicious, and the attractions are unique and very suitable for family vacation travel.
