It’s the hometown of Dianhong black tea and an important Pu’er tea production area, as well as the cultural heartland of the Wa ethnic group—thousand-year cliff paintings, primitive tribes, and the ancient Tea Horse Road are all here, but with much less commercialization. This guide covers how to get there, where to stay, how many days to spend, how much to budget, and what pitfalls to avoid—just follow it. 1. When is the best time to visit Lincang is generally warm, with an average annual temperature around 18℃. It’s livable year-round, but there are two golden periods: Spring (March–May): The tea mountains turn fresh green.
