I had a wonderful dessert experience at HARBS in Japan. The cakes are beautifully made with fresh fruit layers and a light, creamy texture that doesn’t feel heavy or overly sweet at all. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, making it a great spot for both a quiet me time or a casual family treat. I especially enjoyed the Fruit Mille Crepe, which was fresh, soft, and perfectly balanced in flavor. With many locations across Japan, it’s also very easy to find and enjoy whenever you’re craving a high-quality dessert.

2024 Asia 100 - Light Bites

The green tea bun was a nice change from sweet stuff. It's savory, with a bit of salt and spices. Perfect for sharing a couple with friends over tea.

The live music here is the real draw. Talented musicians, a friendly owner, and that proper lounge vibe make it a nice spot to unwind. The atmosphere just feels right.

I had the pleasure of trying the Mille-feuille, and it was a fantastic experience! The crunchy texture combined with the light cream and strawberries made it a must-try. The coffee was also a great complement.

Nice little place for a treat. The citrus exotic cake was pretty good, not too sweet. Had it with a black coffee and they went well together. The cashier was friendly, which was nice for a solo visit. The cake was a bit on the small side, though.

Level 7 matcha gelato. Intensely bitter, almost no sweetness. Like frozen koicha. Perfect for hardcore matcha fans. Not for everyone, but a quick, unique bite.

A short walk from Nakameguro station. Their gelato is the real deal - you can taste the natural ingredients. The place is small but perfect for families, my kids always have a blast here.

The smell of bread from this place is really good. I got a plain croissant. The outside was flaky and crisp, the inside was soft and buttery. Just a simple, well-made pastry.

I keep coming back for their curry bun! The crust is just a bit crisp, and the filling has this warm, savory spice. The little cheese loaf is also a nice treat. Their breads are always so fresh.

Lines get long on the 9th/19th/29th when crepes are 300 yen, but the price is right.

Every time we visit Asakusa, we always make sure to stop by Kagetsudō Melonpan. It’s our favorite melon pan spot—simple, but really addictive. The bread is freshly baked with a crispy, slightly crunchy top and a soft, fluffy inside. You can also add ice cream fillings like matcha or vanilla, which makes it even more enjoyable, especially on a warm day. It’s one of those must-visit treats in Asakusa that just feels incomplete to skip. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and want a classic Japanese snack done really well.

Nice French bakery on Motomachi street. The 'De Libre' bread was really good. But for a quick bite, I found it a bit pricey. The single sandwich I got was over 1000 yen.

A quiet spot for breakfast. I liked the classic, retro interior. It was peaceful on a weekday morning. I ordered the avocado toast and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The bread was a good whole grain option. A nice, simple start to the day.
