I love Shandong so much! A day of immersive experiences with a hospitable Qufu local friend. Every meal was so satisfying that I couldn't even stand up straight. Breakfast: Zhang's Porridge Shop (near the Three Confucius Temples Scenic Area) This shop, over 20 years old, is very simple, but even this simple environment exudes a unique flavor. The owner's "porridge" pouring from the kettle is a true testament to its sophistication. It's actually made with beans and millet. A big bowl in the morning is both comforting and nourishing. Locals also pair it with soybeans and lamb, along with small fried dough sticks, for a perfect start to the day. Lunch: Lucheng Past (Visitor Center Branch) This beautifully decorated shop is perfect for after visiting the Confucius Museum. Come and enjoy some authentic Qufu cuisine. The food is served quickly and is delicious! 😋 Highly recommended. Lucheng Fried Chicken: Spicy, fragrant, and a huge pot. The chicken is juicy, not dry. Kongfu Tofu: Smoked tofu, very unique. Flavored Eggplant: Deep-fried, then drizzled with sauce, crispy and fragrant. Scallion Pancake: A must-try since you're here. Yellow River Carp: Fragrant, tender, and fresh. Duck Egg Vermicelli: The vermicelli is soft and salty, and the curled vermicelli is super delicious. Shredded Radish and Dumpling Soup: True to its reputation as a noodle-rich province! The dumplings are incredibly fragrant. Dinner: Manhan BBQ (Datong Road). When you come to Shandong, you must try some skewers. My friend told me this place has been around for 10 to 20 years. The skewers are fragrant and fresh, and they're delicious when rolled up in a pancake. The pancake wrapper is just as good as anything else! Add some soup, and it's a perfect end to the day.
