The staff are consistently kind and attentive, especially to my son. They always take the time to chat with him, which makes our visits very positive. It’s a simple thing, but it means a lot.

Been staying here for years. The room overlooking the church is always so peaceful and comfortable. Perfect base for exploring Dartmoor.

Food was lovely, and the staff were just the sweetest. We were a big group catching up, and they didn't mind us lingering at all. Made the whole evening so easy and relaxed.

A proper local pub, no frills. The beer is kept well, which is the main thing. Had a decent pint of bitter. It’s a friendly spot for a quiet drink.

This is the jewel in the Wetherspoon’s crown. If you don’t know about Wetherspoon’s pubs, restaurants and hotels, they are budget friendly, no frills establishments many in repurposed banks, shops, high street offices etc. This offering in Exeter is a little different though. The setting, in quite extensive well maintained gardens, is a large old house that used to belong in turn to various professional people. The building has been remodelled and added to over the years. The spectacular cast iron orangery where you can dine from breakfast to dinner time was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the Great Western Railways chief engineer in Victorian times. It was originally part of the main building of Exeter university but was moved here many years ago. Food was up to the usual standard at Wetherspoons and served on the distinctive crockery which was specially designed for the company. My youngest daughter and I ate here several times over a three day trip to view the university. We ate both breakfast and dinner here. I thoroughly recommend having at least a drink or preferably something to eat here if you are in Exeter.☕️ A tip is that your tea, coffee or hot chocolate is bottomless and at the time of writing was only 1.81 GBP per cup.

Steak was decent for the price, and the unlimited chips were a nice bonus. 👍

The owners and staff were so lovely and welcoming. The food was simple and tasty, just like the menu said.

Grabbed a takeaway pizza and chips. Asked for half-and-half on the pizza, no problem at all. Chips were spot on - golden and not greasy. Pizza was decent, nothing fancy but hit the spot. Quick and easy.

The fish and chips were spot on. Light, crisp batter and the cod was cooked perfectly.

Had my son's first birthday in their function room. The staff were really on top of things, handled all the little details without us having to ask. Made for a relaxed afternoon for us parents.

Been coming here for years, and the Thursday two-meals-and-a-wine deal is still solid. Keeps me coming back.

Standard Spoons, but the rooftop garden is a real bonus. Sat up there for a couple of hours with a burger and a pint. It's a bit of a sun trap, really pleasant spot to unwind.

Had a gathering in their function room. Staff were really helpful, let us bring our own decorations and set up how we wanted. Made organising things a lot easier. The space itself was clean and worked well for our group.

Proper pub vibe, lovely landlady and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere with good tunes. The beer garden out back is a nice spot, especially on a sunny afternoon. Just what you want from a local.

Been coming here for years. The calamari is always spot on - never rubbery, just right. That's the main reason I keep coming back.

Nice bright pub, feels clean. Staff were friendly and cleared tables quickly even when it was busy. That’s a plus.

Ordered the burger on the app for a quick lunch. It arrived fast, which is key for me. The burger itself was really flavourful, juicy and hit the spot. Staff were nice and efficient. Solid choice when you're in a hurry.

No booking, but they found us a table straight away. The menu had plenty of options and the food arrived quickly.

Service was spot on. Sophie and the team were really helpful with the menu, knew their stuff. Made a big difference to the meal.

The breakfast was tasty. The eggs were cooked just right, the bacon crispy. Good portion for the price. Service was fine.

A nice spot with a decent buzz. The building itself is lovely and historic. The staff were friendly and knew a bit about the pub's past, which was a nice touch. Food was fine, though the service was a little slow.

The Hour Glass is a charming, historic pub with a cozy atmosphere and friendly bar staff. It's a great spot for a pint and chat, especially on a Saturday lunchtime.

The ale selection is a real treat. Everything arrived piping hot, even through the app. Just a bit pricey for the portions, but the drinks are fairly priced.

Went on a karaoke night with my friends, such a fun vibe! The staff were really friendly and it was the perfect spot for a casual catch-up. The music was a bit loud for chatting at our table, but we just moved closer to the bar. Would definitely go back for another karaoke session.

Really liked the Thai veggie burger here, loads of flavour and the chips were spot on. My friend's lasagne looked good too, nice cheesy top. Service was quick, which was a plus on a busy Friday. Ales were well-kept. Solid pub grub.

Been coming here for years. Staff are always friendly, they handled our big family group without any fuss. Service is solid, you can rely on it.

The Sunday carvery is a solid deal. You get a good plateful with a few meat choices and all the veg. Gravy was spot on. I went for the beef and it was a decent portion for the price.
