Lovely updated veranda with a great view. Delicious local cuisine with great fresh seafood options. The staff is also very friendly.

The food here is delicious and well-prepared, with standout dishes like the squid in honey sauce and the fish stew. Highly recommend trying the local seafood!

Another fabulous night at The Rose Garden restaurant. The 3 course evening meal at €55 per head is such good value for the quality of food and service.

Great spot to chill with friends and people-watch. Tuna on the hot stone was tasty, just gotta be careful not to overcook it yourself 😅

Excellent. Again a delicious meal. Pleasant and welcoming waiters and waitresses. Good value. Busy however nothing is too much trouble.

Stopped in for a poncha and ended up staying longer than planned. That drink was properly made—strong, citrusy, just right. The guy behind the bar knew his stuff and kept the good vibes going. Didn't try much food, but honestly the drink alone was worth the visit.

Been coming here for a while now, and honestly the service is the reason I keep going back. Staff remembers you, knows what you usually order. Food's alright, not mind-blowing, but the menu could use a few more options. Still, that consistency keeps me coming through the door.

Been coming here on every Madeira trip and it never disappoints. The food is honest and the price is fair for what you get. Only thing is the single waitress running around gets swamped when it fills up. Still, we always leave satisfied. A glass of their house red with the grilled fish worked nicely for me.

The grilled chicken with their homemade piri-piri sauce is really good. Comes out sizzling on a little charcoal grill, stays hot the whole time you're eating. Portion was generous for the price, which surprised me. Definitely better than the places closer to the center. Service was fine, nothing fancy, but I didn't have to wait long.

The tuna starter was spot on, and the beef skewer was surprisingly tender. Nice local spot, though the pastel de nata fell flat.

The grilled octopus was the only thing that mattered to me. Tender, smoky, just enough salt. Didn't care about the room or how long it took. Ate it slow, scraped the plate. Price was okay for what you got. That's it. That's the review.

The terrace view really got me—just ocean and sky while we ate. Octopus and garlic shrimp were solid, and the bolo do caco might’ve been my favorite on the island. Service was a bit slow but I didn’t mind much. Would sit outside again just for that breeze.

Stopped by for a quick bite before the hike. Staff pointed me to the cast iron omelette — spot on. Solid spot for a casual meal.

The chicken espetada was properly juicy, well-marinated. Salad with their house dressing hit the spot too. Place had a nice buzz to it.

The fried corn was the standout. Crunchy, salty, exactly what I wanted. Bolo do caco was decent too, soft and warm. Didn't care much about the view or the staff, but the food did the job. Would've liked a bigger portion though.

The seafood stew here is seriously generous — fed four of us easily. I liked that the place doesn't try too hard with decor, just simple tables and a relaxed vibe. Service was attentive but not hovering. Solid spot if you're after local seafood without any fuss.

The buffet was reasonably priced, and I liked that I could just grab what I wanted without waiting. Dessert stood out more than the main dishes, though. Food could've been a bit warmer.

The €25 menu of the day is a solid deal, and it was mostly locals eating there. Felt really welcome as a tourist, and the food was tasty.

Worth the uphill walk honestly, we were out of breath by the time we got there 😅 but it’s such a cozy spot. Felt like the only tourists around, everyone else seemed to be regulars. We grabbed a table near the window and just chilled for a while. Nothing fancy, but that’s kinda the charm.

The host really made the difference—handed us a blanket when the breeze picked up. Poncha was the best I had on the island. Food fresh too.

Fantastic food, service a bit slow at the start, but we were compensated with a free desert, which was a nice touch. Waitress was lovely and really helpful in the choice of a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Highly recommended.

Steak sandwich on bolo do caco bread. That’s the one to get. Meat was cooked right, bread soft. Had the veggie option too, decent but not as good. Place gets busy around lunch. Service was fine, nothing special. Worth stopping if you’re in the area.

Stopped by for a quick tea and cake. Scones came out warm, really good. Sat outside and watched the street for a bit. Service was fast enough for a lunch break.

Came for the live music, ended up staying way longer than planned. The beer list is solid and the cocktails were decent. Staff kept up pretty well even when the place got packed. Good spot if you're in the area and want somewhere with a bit of energy.

Eight taps and a fridge full of options, all well picked. Owner clearly knows their stuff and pointed me to a solid local IPA. Chill spot to hang for a bit.

Churros were solid. Crispy outside, soft inside, not greasy at all. Got the cinnamon sugar one with the dipping sauce on the side. That sauce really made it. Place was busy but worth the wait.

The mixed picado was the real deal here. Meat came tender, nicely seasoned, exactly what I needed after a long day. Waitress checked on us a couple times without hovering. Bill felt fair for what we got. Place was busy but we didn't wait long. Would go back if I'm in the area again.

The seafood rice was a solid pick—big plate, loaded with shrimp and squid. Honestly one portion could feed two. I’d say it’s priced fair for what you get. Place was busy but we didn’t wait long. Just wish they had more napkins on the table, but that’s minor.

Stopped by without expecting much, left pretty happy. Food was tasty, came out fast. Service felt genuine, not forced. Been back a few times since, still consistent. That's what keeps me coming back.
