The homemade poncha was the highlight — so smooth and flavorful. Staff were lovely too, made the whole stop feel easy and relaxed.

great food , good front of house, reasonable prices . Excellent choice of venue for all groups , couples, families, group of friends

The quality of the seafood linguini was excellent, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to using fresh, local ingredients.

The view over Funchal is pretty unreal, especially around sunset. Had the espetada and bolo do caco, both were solid. Staff were chill and friendly. Just wish I'd stayed a bit longer to watch the sky change.

The garlic bread here is seriously good—crispy, buttery, probably the best I've had on the island. I got the grilled fish of the day too, fresh and well-seasoned, with sweet potato on the side. Prices are mid-range for a tourist spot, but the quality makes it feel worth it.

Seafood pasta was fresh and portion was decent for the price. Sat on the terrace, good for people-watching. Solid casual spot.

Pepper steak was solid, crispy potatoes on point. Tomato/onion soup decent start. Cassata ice cream finished it well.

Tried the fish and the pork — flavors were solid, but plating was more canteen than restaurant. Service friendly though, and prices fair for what you get.

Nice spot for traditional Madeiran food. Octopus and milho frito were solid, and the coastline view is a plus. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Fair enough for the quality.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Got the grilled fish and it came out fast, hot, and cooked right. The rum lemon drink was a nice touch too. Paid around €20 with a tip, which felt fair for what you get. Waiter pointed me to the right dish without me having to ask twice. Solid spot if you're in a hurry but still want something decent.

Pizza was decent but came out a bit burnt on the crust. The chocolate mousse though, that was proper good—rich and smooth. Sat by the window, harbour view helps. Not somewhere I'd rush back to, but fine for a casual bite if you're in the area.

Stopped here with the kids after a long day—place was quiet, which helped. Service was friendly enough. I had the bitoque, decent meat, cooked right. Kids went for the bolognaise and cleaned their plates. Prices fair for what you get. Nothing fancy, but it did the job.

Came here for a birthday dinner and honestly it was solid. The mushroom risotto starter was the highlight, really creamy and full of flavour. Scabbard fish and snapper were both cooked right, no complaints there. Service was attentive without hovering, and we got to keep the table the whole evening, which was nice. Not cheap, but you pay for the quality. Would go back if I’m in the area.

We greatly appreciated the service as well as the wood in the restaurant, probably one of the best we had while staying in Madeira. Thanks a lot for this nice experience

The steak sandwich was proper filling and didn’t break the bank. Place was packed with locals when we went, had that nice buzz. Service dragged a bit cause of the festival crowd, but the owner still came by to see if we were alright. Good spot to grab a bite with friends. 👍

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Funchal, with a tempting menu and a daily special that offers high-quality dishes at an affordable price.

Cold beer and chips after the levada walk—hit the spot, nothing fancy. Outdoor seating was nice. Been here a few times now, always consistent.

The wine wall is such a cool touch—you just pick a bottle and pay a small corkage to have it with dinner. Staff even let me taste before deciding. Nice spot.

Loved the grilled sardines here — super fresh and the portion was generous for the price. Owners were friendly too. Place has a nice local feel, nothing fancy but that's the charm.

Went back four times over the trip—that pretty much says it all. The empanadas come out hot and fresh, made right there in front of you. Owner’s a friendly guy, happy to chat while you wait. Had a nice malbec with mine, worked well with the beef filling. Place is small and gets busy, but worth it.

O Calhau de São Jorge is passionate about the food and service. There is a warmth about the place which is borne out in the care and attention to detail in all they do. Having eaten here on several occasions, the food is always excellent and plentiful. The wines come with justified recommendations and are a reasonable price. A very special restaurant in a special location.

We’ve eaten here several times and the food and service are consistently excellent. This is likely our favorite Madeira restaurant and we look forward to being at Olivia with every visit.

Lovely meal with family. Really nice restaurant and food was lovely. Will definitely return.

Nice restaurant, delicious food, specialty coffee. I highly recommend trying the pistachio tiramisu. We booked a table for lunch, specifically to try the lunch menu advertised at €18 (including starter, main course, drink, and dessert). However, when we arrived at our reserved time (16:30), we were informed that the lunch menu is only available from 12:00 to 15:00. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website, and our reservation time was still marked as “lunch” during booking. From 15:00 to 17:00, only the brunch menu (mainly egg dishes) is available. The manager was helpful and allowed us to order from the evening menu instead. The food was delicious, but the main courses were noticeably more expensive than the lunch menu.Overall, we had a good experience and appreciated the staff’s flexibility, but clearer information about menu availability on the website would be helpful, as we specifically chose this restaurant for the lunch menu and its value.

Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was stunning, portion sizes ample. Staff offered free Prosecco and small taster starter. Would highly recommend. Prices very reasonable

Welcoming, friendly and excellent service and value for money. Real Italian menu with food quality to a high level. We visited twice in our 7 day visit to Madeira.

Stopped by for lunch and grabbed a glass of their house red—went down easy with the bacalhau. Nothing fancy, just solid food and a relaxed vibe. The kind of spot where you don't feel rushed.

The view really is the whole show here, especially once the sun starts going down. It's one of those places you save for something special. Service was on point, super attentive without hovering. Food was decent, though not everything wowed me. The tiramisu though? That was the highlight. A couple of the pasta dishes came out a little dry.

Went back a second time while we were there—staff actually remembered us. The scabbard fish in Madeira sauce was decent, though next time I'd try the grilled one. Less sweet.
