The grilled limpets and mussels tasted properly fresh, like straight from the sea. Bolo do caco with garlic butter was a good starter too. Prices felt fair for what you get, portions are generous. Maybe not the fanciest spot but honest food. I'd go back just for the limpets.

The seafood soup was delicious, and the overall vibe of the restaurant is very inviting. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

We had a wonderful dinner with a beautifully decorated set menu that was both tasty and reasonably priced. The friendly service made the experience even better. Definitely worth visiting earlier in the evening!

we had an excellent meal with a selection of different sushi is too cold one hot and a drink excellent food excellent service very friendly

O Calhau de São Jorge is passionate about the food and service. There is a warmth about the place which is borne out in the care and attention to detail in all they do. Having eaten here on several occasions, the food is always excellent and plentiful. The wines come with justified recommendations and are a reasonable price. A very special restaurant in a special location.

We’ve eaten here several times and the food and service are consistently excellent. This is likely our favorite Madeira restaurant and we look forward to being at Olivia with every visit.

Nice restaurant, delicious food, specialty coffee. I highly recommend trying the pistachio tiramisu. We booked a table for lunch, specifically to try the lunch menu advertised at €18 (including starter, main course, drink, and dessert). However, when we arrived at our reserved time (16:30), we were informed that the lunch menu is only available from 12:00 to 15:00. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website, and our reservation time was still marked as “lunch” during booking. From 15:00 to 17:00, only the brunch menu (mainly egg dishes) is available. The manager was helpful and allowed us to order from the evening menu instead. The food was delicious, but the main courses were noticeably more expensive than the lunch menu.Overall, we had a good experience and appreciated the staff’s flexibility, but clearer information about menu availability on the website would be helpful, as we specifically chose this restaurant for the lunch menu and its value.

Stopped by for lunch and grabbed a glass of their house red—went down easy with the bacalhau. Nothing fancy, just solid food and a relaxed vibe. The kind of spot where you don't feel rushed.

The view really is the whole show here, especially once the sun starts going down. It's one of those places you save for something special. Service was on point, super attentive without hovering. Food was decent, though not everything wowed me. The tiramisu though? That was the highlight. A couple of the pasta dishes came out a little dry.

The place looks nothing special from the outside but the Azorean beef was solid. Cooked over open flame, big portion. Chouriço and baked potato were good too.

The açai bowl was really good — fresh and not too sweet. Staff friendly too. Solid spot if you're staying nearby and need a quick breakfast.

I highly recommend this restaurant for its exquisite food and stunning views. The desserts were a highlight, and the overall experience was worth the higher price point.

The food was fresh and delicious . The service was amazing. We had the scabbard fish, the pork tenderloin tagliatelle, the Mexican meat and everyone was very happy with their meals.

The schnitzel was the reason I came and it held up. Big piece, properly fried, not greasy. The apple pie after was decent too. Portion size is generous, that's for sure. Didn't care much about the view or anything else, just focused on the food. Would get the schnitzel again.

Soup was good, sandwich on that local bread hit the spot. 30€ for two with tea, fair enough for the spot. Nothing fancy but solid.

The restaurant has a beautiful terrace and offers well-prepared food at reasonable prices. The service was prompt and knowledgeable, making it a great value for a lovely evening out.

Excellent food. Absolutely delicious. The depth of flavour in the sauces was incredible. You wouldn’t know it existed as it’s a small place but absolutely worth a visit.

Very nice restaurant, now with more tables outdoors. Good sushi and good pokebowls. Still too expensive soft drinks (€2.50 for a small can), otherwise good prices. When you order a sushi combo nowadays you get some spring rolls instead of sushi/sashimi pieces, that feels a little wrong. But a great restaurant, highest grade: 10.

Been coming here for a while now, and the mixed fish dish keeps me coming back. Portions are still huge, just like the first time. Staff remembered us, which was nice. We ordered the paella too, plenty for the table. Left stuffed again, no complaints. Maybe a bit busy on weekends, but that's expected.

The lagareiro cod was the real deal. Salted cod, olive oil, garlic, potatoes soaking up all that flavor. Tender, flaky, properly done. Also had the pear tart after, good call. Portions are big, I left full. Didn't pay much attention to the service or the room, but the food did the talking.

Afternoon tea at this restaurant is a must-try! The superb sandwiches, scones, and cakes, along with the beautiful balcony view, create a memorable experience.

Stopped here for lunch during a walk through central Funchal. Got the daily menu, main dish was around €9. Fish tasted properly fresh, not overcooked. Vegetables were simple but not soggy. Place was busy but I didn't wait long. Fine if you want something easy and decent without fussing over choices.

A lovely meal again the food is excellent . The service is impeccable and the staff give great attention to detail, customer service & satisfaction. Cannot fault it

The grilled octopus was spot on—tender and juicy, honestly better than some I've had in Greece. Squid with potatoes was solid too. Service kept it quick and easy.
