Came for the old-school vibe and stayed for the chicken kara-age. It was so juicy and full of flavor, exactly what I needed on a chilly evening in Kurashiki. A really solid, comforting meal.

Lines are always long here, but I went just before opening and got seated right away. The place has this really nice, relaxed vibe with lots of natural light. It just feels comfortable to sit and eat, you know?

Good counter seating for solo visits. The all-you-can-drink deal is solid value.

The Murasuzume set is a good choice for a break. Simple and traditional, just what you need after walking around the historic area.

The freshly ground sesame sauce is the star. It’s nutty and warm, perfect for the tonkatsu. The Sangen pork was tender, but honestly, I just kept dipping.

Jay runs a solid spot. Burgers are consistently good, cooked right. The real draw is the vibe - staff are friendly, regulars are interesting. A reliable option for a straightforward meal.

Curry breakfast at 7:30 AM. Perfect before exploring Bikan.

The vinegar drink at the drink bar was interesting. A bit too sharp for me, but it's different.

The focus on local ingredients really shines through in every dish. The seasonal menu is thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors are simply outstanding.

Been here a few times after work. The ramen comes out fast, which is nice when you're tired. Broth is solid, noodles have a good bite. Gets busy but never feels rushed.

The three-curry platter is such a fun idea! Loved trying the chicken, dal, and fish all at once. Each one had its own little twist. The spiced egg on top was a nice surprise. Really glad I ordered this.

The individual grills are perfect for me. I could focus on my own meal, choosing the freshest vegetables and lean meats. The ingredients felt very clean and high quality. A nice, simple way to enjoy a healthy dinner.

The Kurashiki 'Kiseki no Sake' junmai ginjo was a nice pairing with the yakitori. Good local selection.

The Oppai-yaki was a perfect starter for sharing! Loved how the sweet onions balanced the tender oysters. 🍶

Been coming here for years, and their Mont Blanc is the reason. Never too sweet, always that clean finish. It's the one thing I know won't change.

The Chiya-Gyu shabu shabu set was fantastic. The staff even helped prepare the porridge, which paired so well with the sake we chose. A nice handwritten note too.

A cozy little spot with a real Showa-era feel. Came for a quiet lunch and loved how fresh the vegetables in my set meal tasted. The daikon was crisp and the greens had a nice color. The place gets quite busy though, so there was a short wait.

Micchan's sake recommendation was spot on.

The staff was so sweet even though my Japanese is terrible 😅 They kept checking on us and refilling our waters, made our girls' night feel really relaxed.

A classic for a reason. Sat at the counter again last night. The sashimi was pristine. Their sake list is thoughtful, found a nice Junmai Ginjo that paired beautifully with the fatty tuna. Parking's easy, which is a plus.

The book room in the back is so quiet, just perfect for reading. It felt like a little secret spot away from the main cafe. The light was soft, and the whole vibe was really relaxing.

The plain waffle here is the real deal. Made fresh, so it's crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy inside. I like that it's not overly sweet, lets the quality of the batter come through. A solid choice.

The way they serve the pancake is clever. You get two sauces, then add pepper or chili to each quarter. Four different tastes in one dish.

Weekday lunch, the daily sashimi set was solid. Really enjoyed the sea bream chazuke, the broth was delicate. The grilled fish collar side was a nice touch. Their house sake by the glass paired well with the clean flavors. A quiet, pleasant spot for a midday meal.
