Lovely cosy pub, proper old school feel. The beer selection is great, but I was really impressed by the portion sizes for the price. Had the Sunday roast, and the plate was absolutely loaded. You definitely get your money's worth here.

Good selection of beers, especially the Belgian ones. A nice change of pace from the usual spots.

Been coming here for years. It's just a nice, cosy spot to catch up with mates without the usual pub noise.

A nice spot in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the vegan veggie platter, which was a good choice for a relaxed lunch. The seating was comfortable, which is always a plus for me.

I had the veggie roast at The George, and it was cooked to perfection! The roast potatoes were crispy, and the greens were just right. A great choice for a Sunday lunch.

The live music in the garden was a nice surprise. Good tunes, a cold drink in hand... just a really nice vibe for a Thursday evening. Made the place feel extra lively.

Came for a drink, stayed for the Monday half-price food. The burger was solid, beef patty cooked right, bun held up. That's what I'm here for.

The quinoa and brown rice salad was really fresh. I liked the portion size too, it was quite generous. The space itself felt a bit tight between tables, but the natural light from the big windows was nice.

The Sunday roast was spot on. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy and the beef was cooked just right.

Service was quick and friendly. They handled my no-onion request without any fuss. Made the lunch break feel a bit more relaxed.

Came with a group, pre-ordered their sharing platters. The mini burgers were decent, and the roast potatoes had a nice crisp. The wine list was surprisingly thoughtful for a casual spot like this, found a lovely Pinot Noir that went well with the spread. Food was tasty, plenty for everyone.

Staff were super friendly when we had to make a last-minute change to our big booking. Made the whole thing stress-free. Quick to sort it out, no fuss.

The lively atmosphere is great for watching the game. It does get very quiet once the match ends, which is nice if you're not in a rush.

Heavenly was so helpful! She took our orders and brought everything over so we could just chill and chat. Perfect for a catch-up.

Bit of a wait on a busy Saturday, but the food was worth it when it came. The presentation was really nice, my main looked like a little garden on the plate.

Been coming here for years. The room's always spotless and comfy, the food's consistently good. But the real draw for me is the location – it's so peaceful by the castle. That quiet never gets old.

Been coming here for years. The staff are always friendly, they remember my usual order. It's that kind of consistent, reliable service that keeps me coming back to this little spot.

Stopped in on a long drive. The carvery was a proper feed – huge plate, loads of veg, and the beef was spot on. Just what you need after hours on the motorway.

Food's good, portions are big. Spice level is just right for me. Some of the curries felt a bit oily, but still enjoyed it. Would go back.

Love that this pub is so dog-friendly! Our pup felt right at home, and we could actually relax over a pint without worrying. 🐶 A proper family spot.

Booked the private room after a service at Gilroes. Staff were really warm. The sausage rolls and pork pies were generous, good selection of sandwiches too. Felt like a proper, quiet spot to gather.

The refurb is lovely, very clean and fresh. It's a nice spot for a quiet dinner. I did notice the menu is a bit limited for someone watching their diet, but the ingredients in the salad I had were clearly very fresh.

The team handled our reunion of 30+ without a hitch. Service was quick, staff were genuinely friendly. My only note is the wine list felt a bit limited for the occasion. Still, a smooth evening.

The food was lovely and nicely presented. What really stood out was the service - the staff were so polite and attentive without being overbearing. It made for a very relaxed and comfortable meal. The portions were generous for the price, too.

Been coming here for years. Charlotte always remembers my usual order and brings it over with a smile. That kind of consistency is what keeps me coming back.
