We regularly visit Casa Joao when on holiday in a nearby golf resort. We enjoy their Italian food. The staff are friendly, the food is very good and it's good value.Sesmarias is a little way out from the holiday villages of Carvoeiro and Ferragudo but Casa Joao is worth visiting and there is usually parking available on the roadside.

The vegan chocolate gelato was solid, and they actually had a gluten-free cone which is rare around here. Good to see some proper options for once.

First francesinha here — massive portion, came hungry and still struggled. Staff tweaked the order for us, nice touch.

The food was amazing and the service was so great and very personable. Waiter suggested we head upstairs for the sunset on the roof before having dessert. 10/10

The grilled fish was spot on, really fresh. You're paying for the view though, portions are a bit small. Still, watching the sunset while eating made it worth it.

The €14 set menu is honestly a steal for this area. You get a starter, main, drink, and coffee. I went for the grilled fish and the veggies on the side tasted properly fresh, which I always appreciate. Only small thing—the plates came out a bit cold. And the coffee is espresso only, just so you know.

Came here after a friend’s tip and honestly it’s the best frango piri piri I’ve had in Portimão. Chicken was properly charred, juicy inside, not dry at all. Chips tasted like real potatoes, crispy. Salad was fresh, nothing fancy but fine. Prices are fair for what you get. Place gets busy around dinner time, so maybe go a bit earlier.

Been coming here for a while now, and the duck breast tapas still hit the spot every time. Generous portion, cooked just right. Shrimp dish was solid too. Staff remember you after a few visits, which is nice. Place gets busy, but that's a good sign. Consistent is the word.

The dark chocolate gelato was solid — dense, not too sweet, the kind that doesn’t melt on you in two minutes. Tried the cinnamon one too, decent flavor but slightly less creamy. Service was quick, no fuss. Fine spot if you’re nearby and want a proper scoop without the tourist markup.

Came back three times in one week. Black pork chops were spot on. Steak on the stone cooked exactly right. Cash only though, so bring money.

Stopped in for a drink after the beach. They seated me solo right away, which the place across the street wouldn't do. Service was friendly, and it felt noticeably cleaner. Didn't eat, so can't speak to the food, but for a quick beer and a decent vibe, it did the job.

Stopped by for lunch and grabbed the grilled octopus — pretty solid, tender and smoky. Staff was quick even though the place was busy. No complaints, just a good meal without the fuss. Would eat here again if I'm in the area.

The pork and clams were pretty good — tasted like something a Portuguese grandma would actually make. Owner pointed us to a couple dishes and they were all decent picks. Place was busy but we got seated fine. Maybe not the cheapest, but the food held up.

Everything was as good as ever, it was extremely busy hence service was a little slow however as we were on holiday it was no biggie and a good time was had by all

Cozy spot with a relaxed vibe. The owners were super welcoming, made us feel right at home. Food was fresh, and they paired it with a nice glass of red that worked well. Would happily go back.

The pasta here is seriously good, best I've had outside Italy. Tiramisu was the highlight though, still tasted amazing the next day. Service was friendly, place had a nice buzz.

Solid spot in the old town. Prawns with garlic rice were the highlight, sangria did the job. Service was quick, no complaints. Price felt fair for what you get. Not mind-blowing, but I'd come back for that rice again.

Came for the wood-fired pizza. Sourdough base is soft, not crunchy—works for me. Tiramisu was a solid way to wrap up. Service was efficient, no complaints there. Place gets busy around 8, so expect a bit of a wait if you're late. Fair for what you pay.

Pizza was solid, and that garlic bread? Definitely the highlight. Service kept things moving without hovering. Would've liked a better wine list to go with it, but the food did the talking.

Coffee and pastel de belém were solid, no complaints. Place was busy but we still found a seat easy. Price felt fair for what you get, not touristy-expensive like some spots around here.

The lamb momos were so good, we ordered a second plate. My friend got the chicken cham cham and honestly I was too busy stealing bites to take a photo 😅 spice level was easy to adjust which is great cause I'm a wimp. Place is small but perfect for a catch-up dinner.

The bifana here hit the spot. Pork was tender, plenty of garlic and that spicy kick. Bun held up without getting soggy. Waiter knew his stuff, pointed me to the piri-piri sauce on the side. Place was busy but we got a table quick. Only thing, the fries were a bit limp. Still, solid meal for the price.

Decent spot for a group dinner. Six of us with kids, bill came out pretty reasonable for what we got. Food was fine, nothing fancy but solid.

The sea bass was really fresh, grilled just right. We had it with garlic potatoes, simple and tasty. Sitting by the marina made it feel relaxed. Only thing—they brought appetizers we didn't ask for, and those got charged. Just keep that in mind. Otherwise, a pleasant spot for a quiet meal.

great food, charming ambience set in authentic part of town (fisherman's port). attentive service (brought my daughters blankets due to the wind).

Good quality food and flavour (Chicken ceasar salad, mushroom risotto, burger). Happy that offer an early dinner time with a bit of a view of the sunset. Will go back again.

Amazing food, great views and wonderful staff. This is a great spot for amazing food, great shrimp appetizer! And fresh fish…. I could just go on and on… please try!!

Simply excellent cuisine!! Quality of fish and meat is really good and Andy is a very talented chef. To recommend absolutely!!

The grilled fish here is really straightforward, no fancy tricks. I had the tuna belly and gambas, both were tasty and fresh. Sat near the window, chairs were comfortable enough to just relax and enjoy the meal. Service was friendly, didn't have to wait long for anything. A nice spot if you want a simple, honest meal without any hassle.

Been coming here for a while now. The gelato's got that proper creamy texture, not too sweet. Tried the fig-almond last week, really liked it. They switch up the flavors pretty often, which keeps it interesting. One scoop's enough for me. Place gets busy after dinner, but it moves fast.
