921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan Review

An educational museum to learn more about earthquakes. The earthquake simulation is a must go.

Taiwan's 921 Earthquake Museum is located in the southern part of the city and requires a 30-minute bus ride, but even if the museum needs some improvement, it is worth a half-day visit. The museum building is basically integrated with the school buildings damaged in the 1999 earthquake. Some parts of the school are barely passive, so visitors can see the extent of the damage up close.The displays are very comprehensive, first with scientific explanations of the earthquake and then with faults in Taiwan's geography. The simulated room gives visitors a good idea of the strength of the earthquake, and the last part of the visit is the reconstruction work. One aspect of the improvement is the giant cinema, which will randomly play animated films (though still about science) when it is suggested that it should play some short films more relevant to earthquakes.

Experience the power of the fault zone for yourself. I used to remember that the desks and chairs/TVs were still left in the semi-destroyed classroom. It seems that the time has stopped at 921. Now this time, the classroom seems to have been cleaned up.
