Lin our tour guide was amazing showing us the history and lots of the Japan traditions and the life in Kyoto. But we were disappointed with the selections and portions of the foods. I organized the tour for our friends and for my husband and wanted them to have a great experience with the food and be filled by the time we finished the 2nd restaurant but we ended up with sample like items, small plates of vegetable appetizers. Some photos showed shrimp tempura and other hearty items but we did not experience that. Not sure that I had to communicate that to Lin but maybe if this tour gives hearty food items all the time, it would get a 5 star. We don’t even drink alcohol so that savings should have gone to a hearty dish. Five stars for Lin but 2 for food. The first restaurant had a couple of sashimi slices and sweet potato and pepper tempura but the 2nd restaurant is what disappointed us. We thought it would only get better but it did not.

Eika was absolutely incredible! The entire tour was super informative and educational, not to mention delicious. My husband and I joined others we didn’t know and by the end of the night we were all friends. Eika kept us on track while encouraging us to get to know each other. She also showed us some of her favorite foods at different places and shared her favorite spots to hit up. All in all, this was an excellent experience and I’d highly recommend it to anyone in Kyoto!

Best foodie tour in Kyoto. A perfect mix of local delectable delights (nothing too challenging for a western palate)! Mixed with some fabulous local historic knowledge , yummy drinks (locally produced) and shared wisdom of some of the best hidden local restaurants too. The group company was awesome bringing to life an unforgettable evening. 10/10. Our guide Peko was awesome.
