The Wang Family Courtyard is 35 kilometers away from the ancient city of Pingyao. During the Northern Song dynasty, Kaifeng Fu (Kaifeng Palace) was where Bao Zheng, the renowned "Justice Bao," served as the prefect. The original Kaifeng Fu of the Song dynasty was long destroyed by floods. What travelers see today is a recently reconstructed artificial ancient-style attraction. The gate of Kaifeng Fu (Kaifeng Palace) faces south, and travelers enter the attraction from here to begin their visit. The attraction is centered on buildings such as the main hall, conference hall, and Meihua hall, flanked by Kaifeng Fu-Tianqing temple, Mingli courtyard, Kaifeng Fu-Qianlong palace, Qingxin tower,Prison, Yingwu Tower, Yinbin Hall, and other halls of various sizes. Each hall is relatively small in scale. Travelers can follow the attraction map to visit the attractions along the central axis before exploring some attractions on both sides. Travelers can view the interior scenes of a Northern Song government office in the main hall and council chamber along the central axis. In the plum blossom hall in the northern part of the attraction, there are recreated scenes of Judge Bao adjudicating cases while "sitting southward in the yamen," complete with wax figures. West of the main gate, the view includes a prison office, Kaifeng Fu (Kaifeng Palace)-prison temple, death row cells, and gendered prison cells—all arranged with sculptures, torture devices, and scenes reflecting the penal administration of the Northern Song period. In the Qianlong hall and Qingxin tower east of the central axis, travelers can see statues of emperors Taizong, Zhenzong, and Qinzong of the Song dynasty, along with biographical introductions of all Kaifeng magistrates from the Northern Song era. Travelers can also watch many historical reenactment performances when visiting the attraction, such as "Yamen opening ceremony" and "Judge Bao presiding over a case".China · Kaifeng

The Qiao's Family Compound is located in the center of Qiaojiapu village, Qi county, also known as "The Qiao Family CourtyardIt was the residence of Qiao Zhiyong, a renowned commercial and financial capitalist in the Qing Dynasty, and has served as a filming location for over 30 movies and TV series, including "The Qiao Family Courtyard" and "Raise the Red Lantern." If you've seen these films, you'll surely recognize the scenes here: rows of red lanterns hanging high, towering brick walls, exquisite carvings, beautiful bracket sets and upturned eaves, and deep alleys. This is the famous The Qiao Family Courtyard. This is a residential complex from the Ming and Qing dynasties, its architecture resembling a castle, imposing and grand, typical of the living style of a large northern family during the Ming and Qing periods. Viewed from above, the entire courtyard layout resembles the Chinese character "囍" (double happiness), symbolizing good fortune. The complex is meticulously laid out yet also varied; even the more than 140 chimneys on the rooftops are unique. It is said to have been built by the imperial family. The Forbidden CityThere's a saying that "for residential architecture, visit the Qiao family courtyard". Upon entering the Qiao family courtyard, a straight stone-paved path approx. 80 m long divides the six courtyards into two rows, north and south. According to traditional naming, the three courtyards on the north side of the Qiao family courtyard are called the old courtyard, northwest courtyard, and study courtyard from east to west. The three courtyards on the south side are called the southeast courtyard, southwest courtyard, and new courtyard, reflecting the construction sequence of each courtyard. The brick carvings, painted decorations, and inscribed plaques in each courtyard are exquisitely crafted. The standout is the "hundred longevity characters" screen wall at the main entrance, featuring 100 uniquely styled seal-script "longevity" characters, where art and culture blend seamlessly. The brick carvings at the land god shrine are also noteworthy. Under the eaves of every room in the Qiao family courtyard, you'll find genuine gold-painted decorations, notably created using the raised paste technique with meticulous layering and final gold application. Among the many inscribed plaques at the Qiao family courtyard, the one personally calligraphed by Fu Shan in the fourth courtyard is particularly remarkable.Danfeng pavilion“Plaque”, when visiting here, be sure to learn about the story behind this plaque. Additionally, there are three treasures in the Qiao Family Courtyard: the ten-thousand-people ball, the rhinoceros gazing at the moon mirror, and the nine-dragon lantern. The rhinoceros gazing at the moon mirror was the treasure that brought wealth to the Qiao family, while the nine-dragon lantern was a gift from Empress Dowager Cixi, located in the courtyard at the southern center. Today, the Qiao family courtyard also serves as a folk museum, with its six courtyards respectively displaying agricultural life through the seasons, life rituals, inner gardens, commercial customs, luxurious furnishings, and the history of the Qiao family. Visitors can explore while learning about the Qiao family's philosophy of life, household management, and business.China · Qi County

Dazhai Village in Xiyang County is the site of the former "In Agriculture, Learn from Dazhai" movement. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was a national banner for agriculture, and today it serves as a revolutionary education base. Before liberation, this area was poor and desolate with a harsh natural environment, and the people lived in great hardship. Through their spirit of hard work and perseverance, the people of Dazhai created a miracle. Dazhai Scenic Area is located at the foot of Hutou Mountain, 5 km southeast of Xiyang County. It has an average altitude of 1000m and a total area of 1.88 square kilometers. Situated in the hinterland of the Taihang Mountains, long-term wind and water erosion have formed its unique terrain of seven gullies, eight ridges, and one slope. After the arduous transformation by generations of Dazhai people, Dazhai has now become a beautiful park-like mountain village and an agricultural tourism area. Dazhai Scenic Area houses the Dazhai Exhibition Hall, a national-style, antique-style building with glazed tiles, shaped like an inverted "Shan" character in its floor plan. The hall exhibits the entire process of building the new Dazhai.Xiyang · 29.5km from Heshun

The Kaifeng Museum is a comprehensive museum integrating cultural relic collection, preservation, research, exhibition, and social education. It houses over 80,000 cultural relics, covering various categories such as pottery, porcelain, bronze ware, calligraphy and painting, stone carving, jade ware, and lacquerware. The old museum by Baogong lake opened in 1988, and in March 2018, it relocated to its current new site. The new museum's layout draws inspiration from the triple-city design of Kaifeng during the Northern Song dynasty, consisting of an outer perimeter, a circular inner courtyard, and a central main structure. Following the principle of "classical exterior, modern interior," lower surrounding buildings embrace the towering central pavilion. From a distance, it appears as a Song-style architectural complex, immersing visitors in the essence of Song culture even before entering. The Kaifeng museum was established in March 1962. Its original site was located on Sansheng street, built on the former site of the Henan museum after it moved to Zhengzhou. The Wang Family Compound, known as the "Folk Palace," is a grand complex built against a mountain, with its courtyards stretching out in layers. Unlike ordinary residences, it reveals the family traditions and ingenuity of Shanxi merchants in every detail. The brick, wood, and stone carvings are exquisite and delicate, with lifelike depictions of flowers, birds, auspicious beasts, and poetic allusions. High walls, deep courtyards, and crisscrossing alleyways make you feel as if you've stepped into the life of a prominent Shanxi merchant family in bygone days. It's not just a mansion, but also a testament to the rise and fall of Shanxi merchants. Compared to popular tourist attractions, it offers a genuine experience of the profound and ancient atmosphere of northern courtyards, making it well worth a visit for those who appreciate ancient architecture and history.

Kaifeng Prefecture felt like a completely artificial tourist attraction. All the replica ancient buildings were too new, and the exhibits inside were too outdated, especially the clothing in the glass cases of the tallest building – the dust was so thick, and there weren't any bright lights; elderly people were practically feeling their way around inside. The shows weren't particularly interesting either. I much preferred the interactive experience with the NPCs at Qingming Riverside Park. I guess I'll only be interested in that place when I'm older!

Industry learns from Daqing, agriculture learns from Dazhai, what a kind slogan! The natural conditions in Dazhai were very bad back then, but even in the most difficult period, the hardworking and brave people of Dazhai, led by Chen Yonggui, transformed nature through self-reliance, not only did they not need state aid, but they also handed over a lot of commercial grain to the state. In the end, Dazhai got rid of poverty and became rich, creating a miracle of transforming nature in human history! If all the old, young, remote and poor areas in China can popularize Dazhai County, they can get rid of poverty and become rich by their own strength without state aid. Therefore, the spirit of Dazhai will never be outdated. The slogan of learning from Daqing in industry and learning from Dazhai in agriculture should be mentioned again. At the same time, it is strongly recommended that Dazhai apply for World Heritage!!!

Taiyuan Botanical Garden, nestled at the foot of Mount Tai, is adorned with three dewdrops falling on the shore of Haowen Lake: one representing the rainforest, one the desert, and one a sea of flowers. By day, it's a verdant wonderland; by night, a galaxy has fallen. Around 7 PM, the 64-meter-high Time Elevator illuminates with starlight, and the Milky Way seems to flow down the slope into the lake—Taiyuan's most sci-fi-like night. Springtime brings cherry blossoms, plum trees, and peonies; summer offers respite from the heat in the greenhouses; autumn offers strolls among ginkgo and pine trees; winter paints the snow-covered dome of the sky—this place doesn't necessarily need a reason; it's simply one of the few places in the city where you can slow down.
