Things to do in Jiaxing

The ancient town was beautiful and the experience was amazing. A great getaway from the busy city and chill by the river.

I bought a combined ticket, and unless you go to the attractions very early in the morning, the time might be a bit rushed for first-time visitors to Wuzhen. However, overall, the environment and service experience made it a very worthwhile trip. I would highly recommend it to my friends. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance, because there are some interesting and engaging attractions that you simply can't fit in one day. ☺️

Among many touristic cities with ancient vibes, Xitang was very outstanding. It is not very crowded in late October, but cozy and nice, with many stores and street food. As Xitang is not as famous as Fenghuang or Suzhou, the prices for everything, including souvenirs, are very modest. The boat trip under the red lanterns is the must!

Cứ thong thả đi bộ, ngắm cảnh, ghé một quán trà rồi lại đi tiếp, chẳng cần vội vàng chạy từ điểm này sang điểm khác.Với mình, một cổ trấn đẹp không chỉ nằm ở kiến trúc, mà còn ở cảm giác khi mình đi qua nó. Jiaxing South Lake Scenic Area is a famous historical and scenic destination in eastern China. Jiaxing South Lake Scenic Area is an ideal destination for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and photographers alike.

Dongzha retains the original, vibrant atmosphere of old Wuzhen, with its white walls, black tiles, small bridges, and flowing water, creating a quintessential Jiangnan water town ambiance. The scenic area boasts numerous exhibition halls, including Mao Dun's Former Residence, the Hundred Beds Museum, Huiyuan Pawnshop, and the Shadow Puppet Theater, all worth exploring in detail. Traditional folk performances can also be enjoyed. Online ticket purchase and exchange are convenient; simply scan the code to enter the park. The old streets are brimming with local life, offering a wide variety of snacks, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Complementing the style of Xizha, it's a must-visit in Wuzhen and highly recommended.

Every time I visit Jiaxing, I always make sure to stroll through the Yuehe Historical District 🚶‍♂️ I love seeing the teahouses along the river, each with its own unique style 🍵, and I especially love browsing the dazzling array of flowers and birds 🌸🐦 When I get hungry, I grab some local snacks from the street vendors 🍡, or find a restaurant I like and savor some of their signature dishes 😋 Visiting on a rainy day creates an even better atmosphere ☔️. The traditional Chinese buildings along the water have a special charm in the mist 📸. Yanguan Ancient Town is definitely worth a visit; it completely exceeded my expectations. There are many genuine ancient buildings within the town, and strolling around at a leisurely pace is very relaxing. The food prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to other ancient towns. The only downside is that many ancient buildings were locked, resulting in some areas being less crowded. Overall, Yanguan Ancient Town offers excellent value for money and is highly recommended.

The Tide-Watching Park isn't large, but it's rich in content. Historical relics include the Fish Scale Stone Embankment (originally built over 1700 years ago, renovated into a large fish-scale stone embankment during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, considered one of the three great ancient architectural projects alongside the Great Wall and the Grand Canal); and the Zhan'ao Pagoda (a Ming Dynasty structure, offering panoramic views of the Qiantang River from its summit). Other attractions include the Mao Zedong Tide-Watching Poem Stele Pavilion and the Zhenhai Iron Ox. The high tides occur from the 1st to the 6th and from the 15th to the 20th of each lunar month, offering the spectacular "One-Line Tide" phenomenon.

Overall, the attractions inside aren't very engaging. Eighty percent of the ancient buildings within the scenic area are closed. The immersive role-playing game is more suitable for older children; you can just stroll around, take a boat ride, and then leave. The most unique feature is actually the two waterfall walls outside the entrance, where music and flowing water create a truly immersive experience.
