Zhouzhuang is a renowned water town in Jiangnan, featuring crisscrossing waterways and Ming and Qing dynasty buildings lining the rivers. The twin bridges depicted by artist Chen Yifei capture the gentle charm of "small bridges, flowing water, and homes." The southern part of the ancient townSouth LakeVast and beautiful. When the lights come on at night, Zhouzhuang takes on a whole new charm. Tour highlights Ancient mansions with brick-carved gate towers in the misty rain of Jiangnan The architecture in zhouzhuang primarily consists of jiangnan-style residences, including nearly a hundred ancient courtyard houses, most of which date back to the ming and qing dynasties. Surrounded by water on all sides, the ancient town was shaped by its rivers, with intersecting waterways forming a grid-like pattern embedded within the town. This unique layout creates streets that follow the water's edge and markets that line these streets. Above zhouzhuang's water alleys, 14 ancient stone bridges from the yuan, ming, and qing dynasties remain well-preserved. These ancient bridges, water alleys, and historic houses truly embody the poetic scene of "small bridges, flowing water, and homes." Visit ancient dwellings and trace the footsteps of famous figures There are many ancient residential architectural relics here, with the famous ones being zhouzhuang zhang hall, zhouzhuang shen hall, and the mysterious zhouzhuang ancient town - shen wansan's water tomb, which is said to be his cenotaph. Zhouzhuang shen hall was built by shen wansan's descendants and is a well-preserved qing dynasty residence in zhouzhuang. Its ingenious structure allows visitors to glimpse the life traces of a wealthy magnate in jiangnan, and even touch the legendary "treasure basin." Originally named yishun hall, zhouzhuang zhang hall was built earlier in the ming dynasty and later transferred to the zhang family during the qing dynasty, renamed zhouzhuang zhang hall. It is a typical ming dynasty official residence. The rowing boats in the water alleys are a beautiful dream of the water town. Zhouzhuang is a small town, with its length and width both approx. 1-2 km, making it perfect for exploring on foot. However, taking a boat ride along the waterways is highly recommended. The boats in the ancient town are wooden vessels covered with traditional blue floral cloth, accommodating 1-6 passengers. The boatwomen often sing local Wu dialect folk songs, adding a charming water-town ambiance. "Only in Zhouzhuang" immersive multi-dimensional space theater "Zhouzhuang: A Dream Within A Dream" is an immersive multi-dimensional theatrical experience designed to transport audiences on a "journey of self-encounter" through layered dreams. The story follows Zhou He, a youth traveler attending an astronomy enthusiasts' gathering in Zhouzhuang, who witnesses the dreams and life of his Song Dynasty namesake from 900 years ago. During the 80-minute performance, audiences enter the dreams of both contemporary Zhou He and his Song Dynasty counterpart, following four chapters - "Old dreams", "Entering the painting", "Going to war", and "Finding the way" - to explore the aesthetic world of the Song Dynasty and the ancient water town of Zhouzhuang, witnessing the pursuits of its historical figures through cross-temporal dialogues. Leisurely life, enjoy relaxation with ease Zhouzhuang is a perfect place to relax. In the morning, you can enjoy the breeze by the river and savor some Jiangnan-style breakfast. During the day, you can stroll around the town, listen to opera while drinking tea at a teahouse, or read a book with coffee at a café. Luzhi Ancient Town

Luzhi Ancient Town is located 25 km southeast of Suzhou city center. With fewer tourists than other popular water towns, it's perfect for a leisurely weekend stroll. Cross several "three-step-two-bridge" structures (double bridges) in this "town of bridges," admire the black-tiled, white-walled buildings along the river, and discover the setting of the story "An Extra Harvest of Three to Five Bushels" from middle school Chinese textbooks. The ancient town of Luzhi was originally named Fuli because of the "Fuli Pond" in its west. Later, it was renamed Luzhi because of the Zhigang Canal in its east, which led to six different locations and whose shape resembled the Chinese character "甪" (lu).Luzhi". The ancient town is as old as the ancient city of Suzhou, with a history of over 2,500 years, predating other towns in Suzhou such asZhouzhuang and Tongli ancient townsFar more distant. If you want to buy a combo ticket for small attractions, you can enter through the main gate of Luzhi Ancient Town on Xiaoshi Road, where the ticket office is located. If you don't purchase an admission ticket, you can enter the ancient town from any road. Since the ancient town is small with only one main street—Nanshi Shangtang Street-Nanshi Xiatang Street—no matter where you enter, you will eventually reach the north-south main street. The attractions are mainly on both sides of the main street. On the west side of the northern section of the main street is the introduction to the Xiao residence, built during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty; on the east side is a memorial hall with Qing architectural style. The west side of the central section of the main street features Baosheng Temple, with the partially open yet already impressively large Qing-era mansion Shen residence to its south. The east side of the central section houses the newly constructed Jiangnan Cultural Garden, where the Luzhi Historical Artifacts Museum displays relics unearthed from Chenghu Lake ruins, corroboratingLuzhiWith a long history, the Luzhi water town women's clothing museum displays unique items such as headscarves and clothes made of blue calico patchwork.LuzhiWomen's clothing. Located in the town center, near the northwest corner of Jiangnan Cultural Park, it represents the ancient town's signature three-step-two-bridge feature.Sanyuan bridgeAnd Wan'an bridge. At the southern end of the main street is the Wansheng rice shop (Luzhi water town agricultural tools exhibition hall), which was renovated according to the article, restoring the layout of the rice shop and displaying various agricultural tools. Among them, Baosheng Temple is an attraction worth visiting in the ancient town. It was first built in the second year of the Tianjian era of the Liang Dynasty (503 AD) and has a history of over 1,500 years. The nine clay arhat statues crafted by renowned Tang Dynasty artists in the temple's antiquities hall are particularly precious. Unlike the static arhats lined up on both sides of the main hall in other temples without any background, these arhats are vividly depicted doing their own activities against a backdrop of mountain and water carvings. To the west of Baosheng Temple stands a shrine dedicated to a late Tang Dynasty poet. If you want to cruise the ancient town, head 100 m east of the ancient town ticket office to find the cruise dock. Each boat costs CNY 150 and seats 4 travelers. A round trip takes approx. 30 mins. Note that payment is required per boat (CNY 150 per boat), and there are no individual tickets. You can team up with other travelers to share the cost. Many travelers dress in ancient costumes for photos in the ancient town, and you can also pay to join the costume photography experience. If you want to taste the ancient town's delicacies, you can go to the side streets at the southern end of the main street—Xihui Shangtang Street and Xihui Xiatang Street along the river, where shops are lined up and you can enjoy specialty foods like Fuliji pork knuckle, Fuliji duck, and Aozao noodles. After September, fresh eight-pointed red water chestnuts are available in Luzhi Ancient Town. For local specialties, you can choose Luzhi dried radish, especially the small round ones which are particularly good. Luzhi Ancient Town has stays available, but since you can return to Suzhou or Shanghai city center on the same day after visiting the town, staying overnight isn't really necessary. If you do want to stay, we recommend the Composition Museum, which displays study desks, chairs, old composition books, newspapers, and has compositions posted all over its walls, offering a strong scholarly atmosphere.Suzhou · 14.9km from Kunshan

Humble Administrator's Garden

The Humble Administrator's Garden is a famous garden in Suzhou, with water as its central feature, surrounded by artfully arranged rockeries and exquisite courtyard buildings, all flourishing with plants. This exemplary Jiangnan garden, along with Beijing's Summer Palace, Chengde Mountain Resort, and Suzhou's Lingering Garden, is collectively known as the "four great gardens of China" and has been inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage list. The garden's design is exquisitely crafted, offering "a unique view with every step" as you explore, with every corner embodying the charm of Jiangnan water towns. Its winding paths lead through layered archways and stone walls with intricate cutouts, where no two pavilions or windows are alike—each perfectly complemented by surrounding flora to create picturesque scenes. You could easily spend hours photographing here. The garden is divided into eastern, central, and western sections, each with distinct features. The central garden largely preserves the simple and natural style of Ming Dynasty gardens, representing the essence of the entire complex and warranting thorough exploration. The eastern garden offers more open spaces, while the western garden features exquisite architecture. At the southern end of the Humble Administrator's Garden lies Suzhou Garden Museum, China's specialized museum dedicated to garden art. Humble Administrator's Garden features major views including Lanxue hall, Hanqing pavilion, Yuanxiang hall, Xiangzhou boat, Thirty-six mandarin ducks hall, and bonsai garden. Two particularly interesting sights stand out: first is the "borrowed view of Beisi pagoda"—when looking westward from the east garden, the pagoda 1 km away appears within the garden, creating a popular photo opportunity for travelers, with this borrowed scenery technique visible throughout the grounds during exploration. Second is the "small flying rainbow bridge" in the central garden, where vermilion railings reflected in water resemble a rainbow, forming an exceptionally beautiful view centered on this bridge. The garden's floral displays change with the seasons: azalea exhibition in spring, lotus exhibition in summer, chrysanthemum exhibition in fall, and fruit bonsai exhibition around the Spring Festival.Suzhou · 31.5km from Kunshan

Jinji Lake is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, showcasing a modern skyline of high-rise buildings that contrasts with the ancient charm of Suzhou's old town. Slightly larger than Hangzhou's West Lake, it attracts many travelers daily for lakeside leisure walks, shopping, and dining, as well as couples taking wedding photos. The attraction has four entrances to this open park, accessible from any side. Most travelers enter through the west entrance, near a subway station offering views of Suzhou's new landmark, the Gate of the Orient skyscraper, colloquially known as "Big Pants." Bike rentals are available near the subway exit for those wanting to ride around the lake. The west entrance leads to Lakeside New Heaven and Earth, the starting point of Lakeside Avenue, featuring a pleasant wooden waterfront promenade and lifelike bronze statues. On sunny days, many jog or ride bikes here, while the lakeside grass is perfect for picnics, barbecues, or kite-flying. You can also see the "Harmony" sculpture by the lake. With enough time, consider taking a boat from Wanghu Pavilion Pier to Peach Blossom Island at the lake's center, especially stunning during the blooming season. After exploring the west entrance, walk or take a water bus to Ligongdi Pier. Ligongdi, the only causeway on Jinji Lake, preserves traditional Suzhou architecture and hosts an international waterfront shopping street blending global brands and local shops. Alternatively, ride the free (holiday surcharges may apply) sightseeing train to attractions like the Fund Museum, extreme sports area, Mid-Lake Pavilion, Lingyun Bridge, and Li Chaoqiong Poetry Monument. Couples or families can take a water bus directly from Wanghu Pavilion Pier to Moon Harbor or enter via the north entrance, where the modern leisure plaza features the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center (dubbed "Suzhou Bird's Nest"), linking the Red Maple Forest view and Suzhou International Expo Center, housing theaters, cinemas, and performance halls. Capture photos or watch a 3D movie here. Thrill-seekers can ride the Ferris wheel for panoramic lake views. Jinji Lake's nightscape is equally captivating. Take an evening cruise (about 40-minute duration) from Moon Harbor or Wanghu Pavilion Pier, passing daytime attractions. The lake's illuminated bridges are a highlight, with digital waterfalls displaying colorful patterns and text. Don't miss Harmony Sky Screen, spanning 500 meters long, 32 meters wide, and 21 meters high—outstripping Las Vegas' canopy—where giant lotus leaves and colorful fish animations dazzle overhead nightly.Suzhou · 25.2km from Kunshan

Waterways wind through the town, gently rocking with oars; every brick and tile is a classic example of a Jiangnan water town. At night, lights reflect on the river, creating a truly immersive atmosphere. This well-known ancient town in Jiangnan has a dense network of waterways, making a boat trip a truly enjoyable experience.

Jinxi Ancient Town, located in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, is an ancient town with a history of over 2,000 years. Major attractions include: * **Chenfei Water Tomb:** Located in Wubao Lake, it remains above the water regardless of water level, adding to its legendary status. * **Ten-Arch Bridge:** 52 meters long with nine piers and ten arches, it's known as the "Little Baodai Bridge" and is the town's iconic bridge, perfect for taking photos. * **Ancient Brick and Tile Museum:** The first museum in China dedicated to collecting and displaying ancient bricks and tiles. * **Lianchi Temple and Wenchang Pavilion:** Lianchi Temple's north-facing gate is relatively rare, and Wenchang Pavilion is a three-story pavilion-style building dedicated to the God of Literature. * **Ancient Bridge Cluster:** The town still has 26 ancient bridges, mostly built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The inscriptions and couplets on the bridges are well-preserved, forming a unique "bridge culture."

Qiandeng Ancient Town is a "living" ancient town, full of history and everyday life. The Gu Yanwu Former Residence Patriotic Education Base, the Gu Jian Former Residence and the ancient stage showcasing the origins of Kunqu Opera, and the bluestone paths of North Street and South Street all present its unique ancient town characteristics.

I always thought I'd been to Luzhi before, but it felt very unfamiliar today. I wonder if my previous assumptions were just a misperception. There's a strong scholarly atmosphere here; the tranquility isn't just literal, it's on a higher level. Even during the National Day holiday, it wasn't crowded, though. Luzhi has a rich cultural heritage that you'll feel when you go there.

Located at the foot of Yufeng Mountain in the heart of Kunshan City, Tinglin Park is a super unique free park! It boasts numerous historical sites, with beautiful scenery at every turn, allowing you to experience a rich historical atmosphere with just a casual stroll! 📜 ⛰️Must-Visit Highlights: ✨Yufeng Mountain: Although not very high, the view from the summit overlooks the entire city of Kunshan! The view is amazing and definitely worth the climb! The wind at the top is incredible, perfect for taking stunning photos 📸 ✨Ancient Architecture: With its blue bricks and gray tiles, it exudes the charm of Jiangnan (southern China). Walking through it feels like stepping back in time; every corner is a potential photo opportunity! ✨Shady Paths: Surrounded by trees, these paths are perfect for leisurely walks. The air is incredibly fresh, leaving you feeling completely healed 🍃 📚Cultural In-Depth Tour: The three treasures of Kunshan within the park are a must-see! Kunshan stone, Qionghua (a type of Chinese magnolia), and twin lotus blossoms—each piece tells a story! There are also the culturally rich Tinglin Three Museums: Gu Yanwu Memorial Hall, Kunqu Opera Museum, and Kunshan Stone Museum, offering a wealth of cultural content! History buffs should definitely set aside half a day to explore and savor the experience. I highly recommend including this in your itinerary when visiting Kunshan! It's incredibly cost-effective—experience the charm of Jiangnan gardens without spending a penny! 🙌 Even locals visit this place countless times; you definitely won't be disappointed!

The Humble Administrator's Garden, known as the mother of private gardens, covers a large area and is divided into three parts: east, central and west. Its architecture is grand and magnificent, and its rockery and water features are ingeniously designed. It has all kinds of pavilions, terraces and towers!

It's very close to Shanghai, a 2-hour drive one way, or a 30-minute high-speed train ride. You can easily do a day trip skiing. The ski resort isn't very large, but it's plenty of space for practice, and it's not too crowded, so getting on the magic carpet is quick. It's a lot of fun!

The experience was great, and the kids really enjoyed it. We bought a skiing and snow play package. The kids learned quickly; after only falling twice, they were skiing normally again. Three hours is about enough if you don't ski much. We had lunch at the snow-view restaurant at noon. 😅

Jinji Lake at night is absolutely stunning. The Gate to the East and the Suzhou Eye stand facing each other, illuminating the entire romantic lake and night sky. I love this place, especially the Moonlight Wharf; highly recommended.
