The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is also the symbol of ancient China. When you are in the majestic and orderly high walls and deep courtyards, you can truly feel its former glory. ▲The long history has left behind large-scale precious buildings and countless cultural relics, which have also become the main attraction of visiting the Forbidden City today. ▲Classic attractions: The Forbidden City Corner Tower is a polygonal building with a convex plane on all four sides. It is located in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The roof has three layers. The upper layer is a hip roof with vertical and horizontal intersections. It is composed of a gable roof with flowing water on two slopes and a hip roof with four slopes. Because there are nine main ridges on this roof, it is called the Nine-ridge Hall. ▲Sundials are divided into two types according to their installation principle: equatorial and horizontal. The sundial installed using the equatorial principle is called an equatorial sundial. The key points of its production are that it must have a time plate, a latitude arc and a gnomon. When operating, the time plate must be parallel to the equatorial plane of the earth, the gnomon must be in the same direction as the earth's axis, and the shadow cast by the gnomon on the gnomon is the desired time. ▲The Treasure House is located in the Ningshou Palace area. It has a rich collection of treasures, including Buddhist supplies, ornaments, daily utensils, and treasures for appreciation. Among them, the red coral lion about 14 cm high, the Dongzhu court beads about 130 cm long, and the gold "Fengtianzhibao" seal are all rare treasures. ▲The Clock and Watch Museum is located in the Fengxian Hall in the palace. Most of the clocks on display are British products, but there are also clocks from other countries such as France and Switzerland. In addition to the timing function, these clocks are decorated with figures, birds, beasts, flowers, etc., which can also make various different movements. They are very delicately made. Among them, the copper-plated gilded writing clock, the copper-plated gilded enamel gourd-top fishing and woodcutting farming clock, and the copper-plated gilded rotating flower running man rhinoceros carrying clock are very rare.Beijing · 60.2km from Zhuozhou

Zhuozhou Twin Pagodas (Twin Pagodas in Liao Dynasty) are the landmark buildings of the ancient city of Zhuozhou. They are located in the northeast corner of the old city of Zhuozhou (now under the jurisdiction of Tianqiao Street of the Twin Pagodas Office). Zhidu Temple Pagoda", the north tower is called "Yunju Temple Pagoda". The two pagodas are named after the temple, but the temple is not known when it was destroyed. There is only one pagoda in each, which is collectively called "Zhuozhou Twin Pagodas. With a height of 44 meters, it was built in the 11th year of Taiping in Liao Dynasty (1031). The north tower is six-level, with a height of 56 meters. It has a certain influence in China. The Zhuozhou Twin Pagodas are the pavilion-type brick pagodas that are less preserved among the existing Liao pagodas in China. They completely imitate the wooden pavilions. The Badaling Great Wall is renowned as one of the Nine Strategic Passes under heaven, combining majestic cliffs with picturesque greenery to form the most spectacular section of the Ming Dynasty fortifications. Living up to the Chinese saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero," this remains the premier choice for most Chinese visitors to experience the Wall. The fortress gate exhibits a trapezoidal shape, narrower on the east and wider on the west, featuring two gate towers. The eastern arch bears the inscription "Juyong Waizhen" (Frontier Town of Juyong), while the western gate displays "Beimen Suoyue" (Key to the Northern Gate). North of the fortress stretches the 12-tower Northern Wall section, while to the south lies the less crowded Southern Wall with 7 watchtowers. If time permits, we recommend exploring the Southern Wall first before tackling the more popular Northern section. ▲Walk Through Six Centuries of Golden History: A Visual Feast of Vermilion Foliage Blanketing the Great Wall ▲ As night descends, the Badaling Great Wall transforms into a gilded dragon winding through shadowed peaks, its illuminated battlements whispering tales of millennia - where imperial splendor meets enduring mystery beneath constellations of golden light. ▲Cloaked in winter's crystalline mantle, the Badaling Great Wall becomes a silver serpent coiled between snow-draped peaks, its ancient stones gilded by dawn's golden raysBeijing · 96.6km from Zhuozhou

The Children's Day activities were very thoughtful for the kids. I expected a lot of good kids, so I decided to go to the Wild Animal Zone and the miniature train. We let them play and explore to their heart's content. We've been here many times since it's close by, so we didn't want to do too much. The kids had a great time playing on all the non-motorized rides all day.

I was so lucky to meet such a wonderful and warm-hearted tour guide, Mr. Bai. After successfully booking, he called me at the right time, providing detailed contact information and the meeting point. His attitude was excellent and incredibly kind. During the tour, his explanations were meticulous, comprehensive, lively, and engaging, and he constantly interacted with the visitors. I hope that next time I bring my family to visit the Forbidden City, I can book another time with such a thoughtful, warm, and attentive guide like Mr. Bai! ✌🌹

Sanyi Palace is perfect for a Three Kingdoms fan like me, as there are many stories about the glorious deeds of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei in the courtyard; however, the courtyard is densely covered with greenery and has a large number of mosquitoes. If you visit in the summer, be sure to bring mosquito repellent spray and long-sleeved clothing for protection. I got bitten several times during my visit 😂😂😂.

Parking is available at the free parking lot in front of the Gao Family Courtyard; the North Pagoda gate is just over 100 meters away. Buying a combined ticket is the best option, including both the North and South Pagodas and the Gao Family Courtyard. The North Pagoda, one of the Liao Dynasty twin pagodas, is actually called the Yunju Temple Pagoda. The "Twin Pagodas in the Sunny Sky" is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Zhuozhou. Most pagodas are of odd numbers, but this one is a 6-story, 56-meter-tall stupa. It's actually 7 years younger than the South Pagoda; they're not twins! Unfortunately, climbing the pagoda is no longer allowed.

This place was amazing! As an enthusiast of early human history and the evolution of Homo sapiens, I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone with a passion for learning. When I went in December, it was not crowded at all. I felt like I had the whole place to myself. The museum displays were very interesting and well organized. The surrounding area, where the fossils were discovered, was kept up and included many descriptions of each location. My only recommendation is that you take a Didi here and/or take a metro as far as you can. I took a bus from my apartment in central Beijing. It must have take 2 or 3 hours to get here. Keep in mind that it is quite a distance the city. Overall, it was an amazing experience!
