Taking the cable car from the East Gate of Fanjingshan is definitely a must. Save your energy for the Red Cloud Golden Summit and the Old Golden Summit. The whole ride takes 20 minutes, and the scenery is beautiful. There are small windows near the doors where you can take photos. It's best to get on the last one uphill for a better seat. For the 140 yuan ticket price, it's well worth it, as the cable car goes over several mountain passes.

The ancient town is more commercialized than when I visited a few years ago, but it's still a great place to stroll around, eat, take kids, and take photos.
