How do I get my lost item back from Heathrow Express?

The steps you follow to retrieve your lost property from Heathrow Express with depend on where your train was headed:

For items lost on trains to Heathrow or at Heathrow Station itself, lost property is managed by Smarte Carte UK at Heathrow Airport. You can search their database here, where all found items are registered within 24 to 48 hours of being handed in.

If you find it listed there, you can claim it online, and if it is confirmed as a match, Smarte Carte will send you a code you can enter on mailmyproperty.com to have it delivered to you. Reclaiming property will incur a fee of up to £25 plus postage and packaging if you want it sent to you.

For property lost on trains towards London Paddington or at Padding Station itself, lost and found is managed by Left Baggage at Paddington Station. You should register your item on lostproperty.org, and choose Heathrow Express as the train company and Paddington Station as the terminating station. You will then select more details about your journey and your lost item from dropdown lists, before moving to the next page and entering more specific information about the item you lost.

The more identifiable information, the better your chances of receiving your lost item. For example, the best way to match a lost phone to its rightful owner is by mentioning your IMEI number, which you can request from your network provider.

You will then be prompted to enter your contact details so you can be notified when your item has been found. Lost Property will only contact you in the event of your item being found. Lost Property charges a fee for processing the return of lost items, as well as an onward delivery charge if applicable.

Missing items may take a while to turn up in lost property systems, and times can range from a couple of days to a few weeks. So don’t lose hope if it seems like a lot of time has passed – there’s a good chance Heathrow Express’ partners are working on tracking your item down!
