What to expect at Leeds Pride?

Once you’ve organised your trains to Leeds, it’s time to get excited about what you can expect at Leeds Pride. It’s taking place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, with things kicking off in Millennium Square. It’s a celebration of LGBTQ+ life, pride and community spirit, welcoming tens of thousands of people to the city centre, so it’s an event not to be missed. Pride events are happening across the weekend, including a parade, stages and entertainment, all of which are free for you to attend.
The main parade begins around midday - usually outside Leeds Town Hall - and winds through the city to Lower Briggate. After the parade, music, DJs, drag performances, speeches, bar events and nightlife keep the party going, with celebrations happening well into the evening.
Leeds Pride is designed to be accessible and welcoming to everyone. While participation in the parade requires registration, as a spectator, all you need to do is find a good spot along the route to soak up the energy as floats, performers and community groups pass by.
There are public toilets and dedicated facilities for disabled attendees dotted around, ensuring everyone can enjoy the event comfortably. Bookings can also be made for the Lower Briggate Accessibility Platform. There’s no formal bag policy for Leeds Pride, but large backpacks in crowded spaces can slow you down. Instead, opt for a small, secure bag to hold essentials and keep an eye on your belongings, as things get busy.
You won’t find a strict dress code at Leeds Pride 2026, but you’ll see colour, glitter, rainbows and creative outfits aplenty. It’s all about expressing yourself, so wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Be sure to consider comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and sun protection, as you’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet.

How to find cheap train tickets to Leeds Pride?

Catching a train to Leeds Pride 2026 doesn't have to break the bank, not if you plan ahead and are smart with your booking.

Book in Advance

You can save a lot on trains to Leeds by booking in advance. Advance tickets are released by train operators up to about 12 weeks before the date of travel, and these tend to be much cheaper than buying a ticket on the day.

Use Railcards

If you’re eligible, using a Railcard can save you up to a third on your train fare to Leeds Pride 2026. There are a wide range of Railcards available in the UK - including 16 to 25, Two Together and Family & Friends - all of which reduce the cost of tickets. You’ll need to show your Railcard to any ticket inspectors on board, so be sure to carry it with you.

Travel Off-Peak

You might be surprised at just how much you can save by travelling Off-Peak. Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets are cheaper - as they’re for trains outside of popular commuter times - and they’re available at the weekend, aligning perfectly with the Leeds Pride festival.

Stay Overnight

If you’re travelling from far away, staying overnight in Leeds at the weekend might make sense. Rather than booking late-night return trains with higher peak prices - and hoping you don’t get caught up in the fun and miss it - you can travel Off-Peak and return the next day. You might find that buying two Off-Peak tickets on different days is cheaper than a same-day return.
