  • Season Tickets: If you visit Sheffield regularly for work, consider a Season Ticket. The Flexi ticket gives you eight days of travel within 28 days and saves around 20% compared to buying individual tickets each time.
  • Off-Peak travel: Train fares are cheaper when you travel after 09:30 on weekdays or anytime at weekends. Just remember that for London, Peak times apply from 16:00 to 19:00 on weekdays. You can find more information about Off-Peak fares here.
  • Split Tickets: Sometimes buying separate tickets for different parts of your journey costs less than one through ticket, even though you stay on the same train. The great thing is that Trip.com automatically finds these savings for you. Curious to know more? Our Split Ticket guide explains all.

What you can take on board

Bikes are allowed on Off-Peak trains only - you'll need to make a reservation for this particular route. Each passenger can travel with up to 3 bags, although this isn't strictly controlled. As for pets, you can take up to two with you for free – they can't take up a seat, though, and must be in a carrier or on a lead at all times.

Departing from London St Pancras

St Pancras is between King's Cross and Camden, close enough to central London and the main tourist areas. You can reach it on the Piccadilly, Northern, Victoria, Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan Underground lines.

From Soho or the West End, take the Northern line from Leicester Square or Tottenham Court Road. If you're staying in Kensington, take the Circle or District line to King's Cross, while from Southwark or London Bridge, the Northern line gets you there in around 8 minutes.

Travelling with luggage? There are lifts from the Underground platforms to the main concourse. Use contactless payment for the Tube – just tap your card or phone at the barriers and daily capping applies, so you won't pay more than a certain amount in one day.

Sheffield Hallam's City Campus is right outside the station on Howard Street.
