Set up since 1908, it illustrates the path taken by medical scientists in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries when, having now acquired the knowledge on the true nature of the human body, they focused on the investigation of its pathologies. Popularly called museum of “anatomical waxes”, because it exhibits models depicting parts of the human body created to facilitate the anatomical medical study, the museum is named after Luigi Cattaneo, professor of Anatomy at the University, who was responsible for its rediscovery and restoration in the 1970s of the original collections of human anatomy, heavily damaged by the bombings of world war 2.The museum is free and inside one of the university’s buildings.
