Session Raft Chamonix

Terrible is an understatement. I visited July 26, 2022 for water rafting at Session Raft in Chamonix. It looked like a fun & safe experience, however it is extremely dangerous. The company has no safety precautions in place. The only advice the guide told us was to make sure not to stand up if we fall in the water, as we could get injured. We set off into the rapids, everything seemed to be going great. The guide encouraged us to take a swim in the water. He stopped the raft about half way through our journey and was explaining, we should just jump into the river on our back and then when he blows his whistle further down the river we have to start swimming towards him and grab the device he was holding so he can pull us out of the river. Since he made it sound harmless and the company obviously encouraged us to get into the water, I thought they knew it was safe. I trusted them as a tourist. The guide jumped in first and went. When it was my turn a few minutes later, after a few other tourists went, I jumped in and was carried down the rapids. He blew the whistle as the river carried me towards where he was standing on land... and I started swimming as hard as I could. However, given how strong the rapids are... I was taken away by them. I was in shock. Then, the guide, also in shock from the looks of it... he threw me a rope down the river. I was struggling to grab the rope, as I was literally fighting for my life. I managed to grab the rope, but could not hold onto it for long as the river is strong. The rope slipped through my hands as the rapids were so strong, and I was being tossed down the river further and further away. I was struggling to keep my head above the water, as waves kept coming over my head and into my nose and throat. I was literally drowning and had no control over my body because the river is extremely strong. By some miracle, I survived. In my opinion, this company handled the situation in a terrible way and put people at risk of drowning.
