The salt mine is a really interesting and entertaining place to visit. You can buy your ticket at the bottom of the funicular station. Get the full package and you have a return ride for the funicular and the salt mine tour and you can walk everything in between like the skywalk. A guide will take you into the mine walking into this really long tunnel, there's 2 slides which takes you down further into the mine which is quite fun and then a mining train taking you back out at the end. If you take the train and ferry then you need to walk through the village of hallstatt about 10mins to get to the funicular station. There are these other spots in-between which you can visit but we went late November and the paths to these spots were snowed in knee high. I see snow shovels around the place but nobody went to clear these paths so we couldn't get to these places.

The trip to the salt mine is one of the special tours in the Harstadt area. There is a ticket office not far from the southern entrance of Harstadt town to buy tickets for the cable car up the mountain and the salt mine and group tour. You can also experience the slides and small trains in the salt mine.
